ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Acute kidney injury on chronic kidney disease: From congestive heart failure to light chain deposition disease and cast nephropathy in multiple myeloma [PDF]
Acute on chronic renal failure is a common but notably broad diagnosis. We present a 64-year-old man with a history of diastolic heart failure and chronic kidney disease, admitted for an elevated creatinine.

Long-term quality of life postacute kidney injury in cardiac surgery patients. [PDF]
Acute renal failure after cardiac surgery is known to be associated with significant short-term morbidity and mortality. There have as yet been no major reports on long-term quality of life (QOL).

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Acute renal failure following mannitol infusion [PDF]
Mannitol is an osmotic diuretic used in acute oliguric renal failure, acute cerebral edema, and acute glaucoma. It is metabolically inert and is excreted through the kidneys.

Post-renal acute renal failure [PDF]
CASE PRESENTATION A 54-year-old Hispanic man with type 2 diabetes mellitus and hypertension was initially evaluated at another institution for difficulty voiding urine. He was found to have a serum creatinine of 7.1 mg/dl that had increased from his baseline of 1.0 mg/dl 2 years earlier.

Therapeutic strategies for MMAE‐resistant bladder cancer through DPP4 inhibition
We established monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE)‐resistant bladder cancer (BC) cell lines by exposure to progressively increasing concentrations of MMAE in vitro. RNA sequencing showed DPP4 expression was increased in MMAE‐resistant BC cells. Both si‐DPP4 and the DPP4 inhibitor sitagliptin suppressed the viability of MMAE‐resistant BC cells.

Concurrent nephrotic syndrome and acute renal failure caused by chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL): a case report and literature review [PDF]
Kidney injury associated with lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is typically caused by direct tumor infiltration which occasionally results in acute renal failure. Glomerular involvement presenting as proteinuria or even nephrotic syndrome is exceptionally rare.

Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Overcoming limits with deceased donors: successful renal transplantations from a donor with serum creatinine of 13.1 mg/dL [PDF]
Non-expanded deceased donors with acute kidney failure can be a safe option to increase the number of kidneys for transplantation. Histological evaluation is fundamental to establish the functional prognosis of those grafts.
