Imaging of the acute scrotum

European Radiology, 2001
The scrotum is a superficial structure and clinical examination is frequently not enough for making a specific diagnosis. In acute scrotal pain US can confirm the presumptive clinical diagnosis and provide additional relevant information. In testicular torsion, color-Doppler imaging has a central role since it has become possible to identify it at ...

The Acute Scrotum

Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America, 1988
In boys and adolescents, the acute scrotum usually results from one of three diseases: torsion of the spermatic cord, torsion of the appendix testis, or epididymitis. A rapid diagnosis of torsion of the cord, if present, is essential, and as soon as this diagnosis is made, arrangements must be made for timely surgical correction.

Acute painful scrotum

Radiologic Clinics of North America, 2004
The ability of US to diagnose the pathogenesis of the acute scrotum is unsurpassed by any other imaging modality. It is the first imaging performed in patients with acute scrotum. Knowledge of the normal and pathologic sonographic appearance of the scrotum and proper sonographic technique is essential for accurate diagnosis of acute scrotum.

The acute pediatric scrotum

The Journal of Emergency Medicine, 1993
The acute pediatric scrotum is a common clinical condition that can present a diagnostic dilemma for even the most experienced physician. THE NONTRAUMATIC, ACUTE SCROTUM

Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America, 2001
Regardless of age, any presentation of an acute scrotum requires prompt triage and immediate evaluation.
