A 45-year-old woman presented to the emergency department (ED) with a 3-day history of fever, progressive sore throat, dysphagia, and difficulty speaking. She was diagnosed with acute lingual tonsillitis. The ED physician must consider this rarely discussed disorder when presented with the previously mentioned signs and symptoms.
