Incidence of acute transfusion reactions to platelets in hospitalized pediatric patients based on the US hemovigilance reporting system

open access: yes, 2014
Background Transfusion reactions in pediatric populations have not been well studied. We investigated the incidence and type of transfusion reactions to platelets (PLTs) in a pediatric inpatient population.

Alloantibodies to High-Incidence Antigen: Review of Cases and Transfusion Experiences in Korea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Antibodies to high-incidence red blood cell antigens should be considered if panagglutination reactions are noted in all panel cells, and negative reactions to autologous red blood cells are detected on antibody screening and identification tests.

Duplex Recombinase Polymerase Amplification‐Lateral Flow Assay for Rapid Visual Detection of Critical Antibiotic Resistance Genes in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae From Positive Blood Cultures

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
This study developed a pair of duplex RPA‐LFA assays for the simultaneous detection of critical resistance genes, blaCTX‐M/mcr‐1 and blaoxa‐48‐like/blaNDM, from hemoculture samples. Under optimized conditions, duplex RPA was performed at 37°C–38°C for 25 min, followed by LFA for 10–15 min.

Biomarkers of Endothelial Damage in Acute Graft‐Versus‐Host Disease After Allogenic Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation: Methodological Challenges

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation remains a potentially curative therapy for many hematological malignancies; however, its success is significantly limited by acute graft‐versus‐host disease (aGVHD), a leading cause of post‐transplant morbidity and mortality in which endothelial dysfunction plays a central role.

A Case of Hemolytic Transfusion Reaction in a Patient with Anti-E, Anti-M, Anti-Jkb, and Anti-Lea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We reported a case of hemolytic transfusion reaction that was related to multiple RBC antibodies such as anti-E, anti-M, anti-Jkb and anti-Lea after serial RBC transfusions.

Improving nutritional assessment in pediatric anorexia nervosa: Clinical value of key serum biomarkers

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Reliable biochemical markers of starvation are needed to improve detection and monitoring of starvation in pediatric anorexia nervosa (AN), thus we explored new and revisited old potential serum biochemical markers. Methods In this prospective cohort study we included 65 pediatric patients with AN.

Development and External Validation of a Postoperative Risk Score for Venous Thromboembolism in Epithelial Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, is a major complication in women with epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). We aimed to develop and externally validate an early postoperative risk score to identify EOC patients at increased risk of VTE after debulking surgery.

Transfusion-Related acute lung injury in a patient with hellp syndrome: A case report

open access: yesJournal of Obstetric Anaesthesia and Critical Care, 2019
Transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI) is a serious adverse reaction associated with the transfusion of plasma-containing blood components, and presents as hypoxemia and non-cardiogenic pulmonary oedema within 6 hrs of transfusion.

Chord diagram of the attributions associated with serious transfusion reactions.

open access: yes, 2021
Attribution to a category of relatedness is depicted by a line connecting from each serious transfusion reaction type. The width of each line and the circumferential axis indicate the number of patients in each combined serious transfusion reaction and ...
