Immunopathogenesis of acute transverse myelitis
Current Opinion in Neurology, 2002Acute transverse myelitis is a group of disorders characterized by focal inflammation of the spinal cord and resultant neural injury. Acute transverse myelitis may be an isolated entity or may occur in the context of multifocal or even multisystemic disease.

There have been few population-based studies of acute transverse myelitis (ATM). Therefore, incidence and population selectivity of this disorder in different regions is not well known. Data on all Jewish patients with ATM throughout Israel were collected for the period 1955 through 1975.

Post-varicella acute transverse myelitis
Infection, 1979This report of a case of acute transverse myelitis, after otherwise uneventful varicella, further stresses the importance that the possibility of this relatively rare complication should be kept in mind in patients developing a paraplegic syndrome late in the course of the disease.

Neurophysiological studies in acute transverse myelitis
Journal of Neurology, 2000A systematic evaluation of anterior horn cell, motor and sensory pathways is possible by electromyography (EMG), motor (MEPs) and somatosensory (SEPs) evoked potentials, respectively, which may provide valuable information on acute transverse myelitis (ATM).

Prognostic Parameters of Acute Transverse Myelitis in Children
Journal of Child Neurology, 2020Acute transverse myelitis is a rare and disabling disorder. Data on the imaging features in children are sparse. The aim of this study was to describe the clinical and magnetic resonance imaging findings characteristic of pediatric idiopathic acute ...

Prognostic predictors of acute transverse myelitis
Acta Neurologica Scandinavica, 1998The role of clinical, MRI and neurophysiological parameters in predicting the outcome of acute transverse myelitis (ATM) is reported.Thirty-one patients with ATM were subjected to clinical, MRI, somatosensory and motor evoked potential studies in both upper and lower limbs and concentric needle electromyography.

Acute transverse myelitis is a relatively uncommon neurological disease in which affected patients exhibit acute dehabilitating symptoms associated with the loss of spinal cord segment function. During January 1996, a 23-year-old black female college student, who had been previously healthy, presented to our clinic with acute onset of symptoms typical ...

ACUTE SYPHILITIC TRANSVERSE MYELITIS
Archives of Dermatology and Syphilology, 1924My attention was especially called to this rare condition by two cases observed and studied. At the time, I supposed it was an exceedingly rare complication of early syphilis, and this idea was rather confirmed by questioning colleagues as to their experience. However, I was surprised indeed on looking up the literature to see that it is by no means an

Acute Transverse Myelitis Complicating Breakthrough Varicella Infection
Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, 2014We report a 10-year-old girl who presented with acute transverse myelitis after breakthrough varicella infection. The diagnosis was based on the development of motor weakness, paraparesis and bladder dysfunction, spinal magnetic resonance imaging findings and detection of anti-varicella zoster virus IgG antibody in the cerebrospinal fluid.
