Biomechanical comparison of the bone‐screw‐fastener to conventional cortical buttress screw in a simulated ex vivo model of equine midbody proximal sesamoid bone fracture repair

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To compare implant failure and gap displacement characteristics of simulated medial mid‐body proximal sesamoid bone (PSB) fractures repaired with bone‐screw‐fasteners (BSF) or cortical screws (CS) in single or double screw configurations. Study design Ex vivo experimental study.

Rescattering corrections and self-consistent metric in Planckian scattering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Starting from the ACV approach to transplanckian scattering, we present a development of the reduced-action model in which the (improved) eikonal representation is able to describe particles' motion at large scattering angle and, furthermore, UV-safe ...

ACV: an arithmetic circuit verifier [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of International Conference on Computer Aided Design, 2002
Based on a hierarchical verification methodology, we present an arithmetic circuit verifier ACV, in which circuits expressed in a hardware description language, also called ACV, are symbolically verified using Binary Decision Diagrams for Boolean functions and multiplicative Binary Moment Diagrams (*BMDs) for wordlevel functions.

Comparison between a laparoscopic articulating needle driver with standard laparoscopic instrumentation for total laparoscopic gastropexy in dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Surgery, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To compare the utility of a mechanical laparoscopic articulating needle driver (ALI) to standard laparoscopic instrumentation (SLI) during the creation of a total laparoscopic gastropexy (TLG) in dogs. Study design Prospective clinical trial. Animals A total of 17 client owned dogs.

Comparison of Encoding Properties of Campaniform Sensilla on the Fly Wing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The wing blade of the blowfly Calliphora vomitoria (L.) carries an array of campaniform sensilla which have previously been divided into slowly and rapidly adapting classes based on their responses to step indentations.

Surgical confidence and competence among US veterinary students after a high‐volume sterilisation campaign in rural Mexico

open access: yesVeterinary Record Open, Volume 13, Issue 1, June 2026.
Abstract Objectives To evaluate whether participation in a high‐volume sterilisation campaign increases veterinary students’ confidence in surgical and anaesthetic skills. We hypothesised that the intervention would improve confidence across key domains and lead to satisfactory technical competence.

Large‐Aperture Polarization‐Independent Broadband Achromatic All‐Dielectric Metalens for Terahertz Focusing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
A large‐aperture, high focusing efficiency and polarization‐independent THz single‐layer achromatic metalens is reported via discrete multi‐wavelength achromatic design and global optimization algorithm. The fabricated metalens exhibits a largest diameter of 2.21 cm, excellent achromatic performance, extremely high average focusing efficiency (> 46 ...

Characterisation of the relationship between surface texture and surface integrity of superalloy components machined by grinding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The surface texture of a machined component is influenced largely by the processing parameters used during machining and hence, there is a relationship between both the formation of the surface texture and surface integrity of the machined component.
