Acyclic polyhalogenated monoterpenes from four marine hydroids

Biochemical Systematics and Ecology, 1984
Abstract Four polyhalogenomonoterpenes have been isolated from four species of marine hydroids. Their biological role is briefly discussed.

Biosynthesis of monoterpenes: Conversion of the acyclic precursors geranyl pyrophosphate and neryl pyrophosphate to the rearranged monoterpenes fenchol and fenchone by a soluble enzyme preparation from fennel (Foeniculum vulgare)

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1980
Abstract (+)-(1 S )-Fenchone, an irregular bicyclic monoterpene ketone thought to be derived via rearrangement of a bicyclic precursor, is one of the major terpenoids of the volatile oil of fennel ( Foeniculum vulgare M.). A soluble enzyme preparation obtained from homogenates of young fennel leaves converted the acyclic precursors geranyl ...

Synthesis of furyl analogues of acyclic monoterpenes

Flavour and Fragrance Journal, 2005
Starting from furfural and 5-methyfurfural, the furyl analogues of linalool, geraniol, citral, citronellol and citronellal, in which the isobutenyl moiety was replaced by a furyl substituent, have been synthesized. The olfactory properties of the new compounds prepared are of the corresponding parent terpene type; however, a positive influence of the ...

Metabolism of structurally modified acyclic monoterpenes by Pseudomonas incognita

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1984
The ability of Pseudomonas incognita to metabolize some structurally modified acyclic monoterpenes was tested. The 6,7 double bond was found essential for these compounds to serve as a substrate for this organism, whereas the same was not true with the 1,2 double bond.

Effect of acyclic monoterpene alcohols and their derivatives on TRP channels

Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry Letters, 2014
A series of thirty-six geraniol, nerol, citronellol, geranylamine, and nerylamine derivatives was synthesized and tested on TRPA1, TRPM8, and TRPV1 channels. Most of them acted as strong modulators of TRPA1 channels with EC50 and/or IC50 values
