Insecticidal activity of a protein extracted from bulbs of Phycella australis Ravenna against the aphids Acyrthosiphon pisum Harris and Myzus persicae Sulzer

open access: yes, 2016
Aphids cause significant losses in many agricultural crops and in many cases cause repeated insecticide sprays, which increase the risk of resistance. Therefore, other alternatives are needed to control them.

Seasonal Abundance of Primary Parasitoids and Hyperparasitoids Associated with Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) and Acyrthosiphon kondoi Shinji (Homoptera: Aphididae) on Alfalfa.

open access: yesJapanese Journal of Applied Entomology and Zoology, 2002
Seasonal abundance of primary parasitoids and hyperparasitoids associated with Acyrthosiphon spp. was studied in an alfalfa field in 2000. Two species of primary parasitoids were recorded: Aphidius ervi and Praon barbatum. Mean parasitism by A. ervi and P. barbatum peaked at 3.5% on 10 July and 13.0% on 29 June.

Defensive Symbiont Genotype Distributions Are Linked to Parasitoid Attack Networks

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 28, Issue 2, February 2025.
Facultative symbionts are widespread in arthropods and can provide important services such as protection from natural enemies. Yet what shapes defensive symbiont associations in nature remains unclear. We show that the symbiont Hamiltonella defensa's genotype distribution strongly aligns with sharing the same parasitoids, rather than host plants ...

A survey of alfalfa aphids and their natural enemies in Isfahan, Iran, and the effect of alfalfa strip-harvesting on their populations [PDF]

open access: yesنامه انجمن حشره‌شناسی ایران, 2010
During a two-year (2004-2005) survey of alfalfa aphids and their natural enemies in Isfahan, a total of four aphid species and 58 species of their natural enemies comprised of 45 predatory species, 11 parasitoid species and two species of parasitic mites

Effect of phenolics on the pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum [Harris] population on Pisum sativum L. [Fabaceae]

open access: yes, 2008
Extensive studies have been carried out to identify plant phenolics with insecticidal properties towards insects. The subject of the study were comparison of control and infested by Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) vegetative parts of pea plants.

Study of anatomical changes in Coccinella septempunctata induced by diet and by infection with the larva of Dinocampus coccinellae using magnetic resonance microimaging

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2000
A range of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) techniques, 1H liquid spectroscopy and T1 and T2 relaxation measurements, and microimaging, have been used to observe changes taking place within the bodies of live samples of Coccinella septempunctata, under a

Influence of temperature on pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum (Hemiptera: Aphididae) resistance to natural enemy attack

open access: yes, 2002
The ability to resist or avoid natural enemy attack is a critically important insect life history trait, yet little is understood of how these traits may be affected by temperature.
