The Alaskan stream south of Adak Island

Deep Sea Research and Oceanographic Abstracts, 1968
Abstract Closely spaced Nansen bottle casts taken south of Adak Island confirm the presence of geostrophic velocities in excess of 60 cm/sec in the Alaskan Stream. A volume transport of 5 × 10 6 m 3 /sec (referred to 1000 dbar) during summer increased to 10 × 10 6 m 3 /sec during winter without an increase in velocity.
