ADVENT: Adversarial Entropy Minimization for Domain Adaptation in Semantic Segmentation

Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, 2018
Semantic segmentation is a key problem for many computer vision tasks. While approaches based on convolutional neural networks constantly break new records on different benchmarks, generalizing well to diverse testing environments remains a major ...

Adaptive link adaptation

GLOBECOM'01. IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference (Cat. No.01CH37270), 2002
Link adaptation (LA) can significantly increase the spectral efficiency and render various levels of services, both of which are highly desirable for today's high-speed communication systems. Although optimality can be ensured through careful designing for a fixed link configuration, due to changes of available power, data rate, and especially channel ...

Adaptiveness and adaptation

Ethology and Sociobiology, 1990
Abstract This essay is structured as follows. First, I describe the adaptationist program, or teleonomy, in biology. Second, I review the methodologies of this program. Third, I discuss the role that the environment of evolutionary adaptedness plays in the adaptationist program.

Adaptively supported adaptability

International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, 1994
This paper presents an adaptive and adaptable system and its evaluation. The system is based on a commercial spreadsheet application and provides adaptation opportunities for defining a user- and task-specific user interface (new menu entries and key shortcuts for subrouting names and parameters, changing default parameters).

Adaptive Signal Processing for Adaptive Control

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1983
A few of the well established methods of adaptive signal processing are modified and extended for application to adaptive control. An unknown plant will track an input command signal if the plant is preceded by a controller whose transfer function approximates the inverse of the plant transfer function.

Adaptive Heapsort

Journal of Algorithms, 1993
We provide a sorting algorithm, Adaptive Heapsort, that optimally adapts to several known, and new, measures of presortedness. The algorithm is motivated by a new measure, called \textit{Osc}, which intuitively tells the oscillation within the input sequence.

Adaptations and Adaptations

2012
AbstractWhy is it important to understand early experience in the context of the environment of evolutionary adaptedness (EEA)? The answer hinges on the meaning of the term adaptation, and different meanings of this term have different implications for the contemporary relevance of early hominid practices.
