Orbiting binary black hole evolutions with a multipatch high order finite-difference approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We present numerical simulations of orbiting black holes for around twelve cycles, using a high-order multipatch approach. Unlike some other approaches, the computational speed scales almost perfectly for thousands of processors.

From Complex Regions to Complex Worlds

open access: yesEcology and Society, 2004
Panarchy focuses on ecological and social systems that change abruptly. Panarchy is the process by which they grow, adapt, transform, and, in the end, collapse. These stages occur at different scales.

Prognostic value of the baseline circulating T cell receptor β chain diversity in advanced lung cancer

open access: yesOncoImmunology, 2021
An indicator for systemic evaluation of the adaptive immune status is lacking. Peripheral blood is important in antitumour immunity, and the T-cell receptor (TCR) repertoire diversity is key for effective immunity. This study aimed to investigate changes

Intra-limb coordinative adaptations in cycling [PDF]

open access: yesSports Biomechanics, 2012
This study aimed to establish the nature of lower extremity intra-limb coordination variability in cycling and to investigate the coordinative adaptations that occur in response to changes in cadence and work rate. Six trained and six untrained males performed nine pedalling bouts on a cycle ergometer at various cadences and work rates (60, 90, and 120

Resilience: ecological and socio-spatial models evolve while understanding the equilibrium [PDF]

open access: yesUrbanism. Arhitectura. Constructii, 2016
The paper attempts to review the main models used in systems ecology, and applied to urban and territorial development, in tight connection with the developing understanding of equilibrium and stability. Initially, resilience was perceived as a component

Adaptive Duty Cycling MAC Protocols Using Closed-Loop Control for Wireless Sensor Networks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The fundamental design goal of wireless sensor MAC protocols is to minimize unnecessary power consumption of the sensor nodes, because of its stringent resource constraints and ultra-power limitation. In existing MAC protocols in wireless sensor networks
