Empirical Analysis of LoRaWAN Adaptive Data Rate for Mobile Internet of Things Applications

S3@MobiCom, 2019
Built on top of the Long Range (LoRa) physical layer, the LoRa Wide-Area Network (LoRaWAN) protocol has recently emerged as one of the most promising Low-Power Wide-Area Network (LPWAN) technologies, for several Internet of Things (IoT) applications ...

A rate-adaptive protocol for wireless data channels

2000 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference. Conference Record (Cat. No.00TH8540), 2002
We present a simple heuristic protocol for adaptively adjusting the rate of an error correcting code so as to match the time-varying error probabilities in a slowly fading channel. Channel state is estimated from the past error history. Analysis and simulations indicate excellent performance over a wide variety of channels.

Adaptive variable rate data transmission over fading channel with adaptive feedback equalization

Conference Record of the Thirty-Fourth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (Cat. No.00CH37154), 2002
We investigate by simulation the possibility of joint usage of decision feedback equalization and adaptive control of symbol duration under the data transmission over Rayleigh fading channel. The findings show that the contribution essentially mitigates the burst error effect caused by the equalization.

Using Adaptive Data Rate with DSSS Optimization and Transmission Power Control for Ultra-Low Power WSN

International Conference on Developments in eSystems Engineering, 2019
Because the power line of IoT devices is difficult to be arranged in many applications, devices are usually powered by batteries. The low-power wireless communication becomes a significant technology in IoT.

A Power Efficient Adaptive Data Rate Algorithm for LoRaWAN networks

International Symposium on Wireless Personal Multimedia Communications, 2018
LoRaWAN networks have recently started to play a key role in the framework of Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) for Internet of Things. In Internet of Things a crucial aspect is the reduction of energy consumption and in LPWAN, where there is a huge ...

Adaptive multi-code CDMA systems for variable data rates

1997 IEEE International Conference on Personal Wireless Communications (Cat. No.97TH8338), 2002
To increase the spectrum efficiency in mobile communications and to support variable data rates, multi-code code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) systems have been proposed which allow to support variable source data rates by variation of the set of code sequences assigned to every user.

Rate adaptation for bursty data transmission in CDMA networks

Conference Record of Thirty-Fifth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (Cat.No.01CH37256), 2001
We study rate adaptation for the uplink of CDMA networks with many ON/OFF data users. We propose a novel multi-access interference (MAI) model that takes into account simultaneously the burstiness of data traffic and time-varying fading. We characterize the MAI from a stochastic process perspective.

Adapting the VLT data flow system for handling high-data rates

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
The Data Flow System (DFS) for the ESO VLT provides a global approach to handle the flow of science related data in the VLT environment. It is a distributed system composed of a collection of components for preparation and scheduling of observations, archiving of data, pipeline data reduction and quality control.

Adaptive data rate transmission between vehicle and access point

2015 International Conference on Information and Communication Technology Convergence (ICTC), 2015
Recent, as interest in the vehicle communication is high, various techniques have been developed. However, the vehicle communication has a problem due to high-speed mobility of vehicle. Especially V2I (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure) communication has a biggest problem that is deterioration of continuity and reliability caused by frequent hand-off with base
