Adaptive Underfrequency Load Shedding Based on the Magnitude of the Disturbance Estimation

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 2006
In this paper, a new approach to adaptive underfrequency load shedding (UFLS), a procedure for protecting electric power systems from dynamic instability and frequency collapse, is presented. It consists of two main stages. In the first stage, the frequency and the rate of frequency change are estimated by the nonrecursive Newton-type algorithm.

Adaptive load shedding scheme for frequency stability enhancement in microgrids

open access: yesElectric Power Systems Research, 2016
The imbalance between the generated power and the load demand is the major factor that is usually responsible for frequency instability in power systems, most especially islanded microgrids. To determine the size of the loads that should be shed and their appropriate locations in the power system, to maintain the system frequency within the permissible

Adaptive load shedding for windowed stream joins

open access: yesProceedings of the 14th ACM international conference on Information and knowledge management, 2005
We present an adaptive load shedding approach for windowed stream joins. In contrast to the conventional approach of dropping tuples from the input streams, we explore the concept of selective processing for load shedding. We allow stream tuples to be stored in the windows and shed excessive CPU load by performing the join operations, not on the entire

An adaptive load shedding method for intentional islanding

open access: yes2009 International Conference on Clean Electrical Power, 2009
The paper proposes and analyzes a new adaptive load shedding method for intentional islanding for distribution networks. The proposed method uses a combination load shedding method to enhance both frequency and voltage stability following a disturbance.

New approach of adaptive automatic load shedding

open access: yesEuropean Transactions on Electrical Power, 2001
AbstractIn the paper a new approach of adaptive automatic load shedding, a procedure for protecting electric power systems from dynamic instability and frequency collapse is presented. It is consisted of two main stages. In the first stage the frequency and the rate of its change are estimated by nonrecursive Newton type algorithm and least error ...

An Adaptive Optimization-Based Load Shedding Scheme in Microgrids [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2018
This paper proposes an adaptive optimization-based approach for under frequency load shedding (UFLS) in microgrids following an unintentional islanding. In the first step, the total amount of load curtailments is determined based on the system frequency ...
