Blind Single Channel Deconvolution using Nonstationary Signal Processing

open access: yes, 2003
Blind deconvolution is fundamental in signal processing applications and, in particular, the single channel case remains a challenging and formidable problem. This paper considers single channel blind deconvolution in the case where the degraded observed

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Real-time adaptive filtering of dental drill noise using a digital signal processor

open access: yes, 2006
The application of noise reduction methods requires the integration of acoustics engineering and digital signal processing, which is well served by a mechatronic approach as described in this paper.

Wavelet shrinkage using adaptive structured sparsity constraints [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Structured sparsity approaches have recently received much attention in the statistics, machine learning, and signal processing communities. A common strategy is to exploit or assume prior information about structural dependencies inherent in the data ...

Ubiquitination of secretory granules promotes their crinophagic degradation in Drosophila

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ubiquitination of secretory granules in Drosophila larval salivary glands is a critical molecular trigger for crinophagy, the lysosomal degradation of unreleased, or low‐quality granules. The E3 ubiquitin ligase Cnot4 is recruited to the surface of secretory granules to induce crinophagy.

Audio signal processing device

open access: yes, 2006
An audio signal processing device includes a signal supply for supplying speech and music signals via one or more input channels. The device further includes a signal separator for separating the speech and music signals.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Image enhancement circuit using nonlinear processing curve and constrained histogram range equalization

open access: yes, 2004
For real-time imaging in surveillance applications, image fidelity is of primary importance to ensure customer confidence. The obtained image fidelity is a result from amongst others dynamic range expansion and video signal enhancement. The dynamic range

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
