Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

CAV-generated mobility data modeling mechanism for adaptive signal control

open access: yesJournal of Traffic and Transportation Engineering (English ed. Online)
The effectiveness of adaptive traffic signal control highly relies on accurate and accountable identification of dynamic arrival turning movement demand on approaches and other traffic flow parameters measuring traffic states. Emerging connected vehicle (

Double Deep Q-Network with a Dual-Agent for Traffic Signal Control

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
Adaptive traffic signal control (ATSC) based on deep reinforcement learning (DRL) has shown promising prospects to reduce traffic congestion. Most existing methods keeping traffic signal phases fixed adopt two agent actions to match a four-phase ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Traffic management project in Phnom Penh

open access: yesIATSS Research, 2018
Traffic congestion and accidents are major issues in Phnom Penh, the capital city of the Kingdom of Cambodia. An inefficient signal system and lack of traffic discipline contributed to the unfavorable traffic conditions.

Energy-efficient street lighting through embedded adaptive intelligence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Streetlights place a heavy demand on electricity usage, providing significant financial and environmental burdens. Consequently, initiatives to reduce energy consumption have been proposed, usually by turning off or dimming the streetlight. In this paper,
