'Addiction' Phenomenon

The term "addiction" has become widespread in our society. In this article, I examine the expansion of the medical addiction metaphor to numerous types of behavior. A review of the largely self-help addiction-related literature, selling tens of millions of copies per year, reveals a common path for recovery from these addictions.

Tobacco Addiction, Substance Addictions and Behavioral Addictions

Addictions that concern public health and can be seen widely at all ages are an important public health problem. While tobacco addiction is widespread in society, behavioral addictions are also seen at undeniable rates; increasing substance addictions disrupt public health and functioning with their consequences.
