Effect of TiB2 Addition on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Laser-Directed Energy Deposition TiAl Alloy

open access: yesMetals
The microstructure characteristics of TiAl alloy prepared by laser-directed energy deposition (L-DED) are coarse columnar grains parallel to the building direction, which results in serious mechanical properties and anisotropy and limits its application.

SLM lattice structures: Properties, performance, applications and challenges

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2019
Additive manufacturing (AM), particularly Selective Laser Melting (SLM) has enabled development of lattice structures with unique properties. Through control of various parameters lattice structures can produce unique mechanical, electrical, thermal and ...

Weak Integer Additive Set-Indexers of Certain Graph Products [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
An integer additive set-indexer is defined as an injective function $f:V(G)\rightarrow 2^{\mathbb{N}_0}$ such that the induced function $g_f:E(G) \rightarrow 2^{\mathbb{N}_0}$ defined by $g_f (uv) = f(u)+ f(v)$ is also injective, where $f(u)+f(v)$ is the

Prognostic Impact of Treatment Modalities, Including Targeted Compartmental Radio‐Immunotherapy, in a Cohort of Neuroblastoma Patients With CNS Metastases at Relapse

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Neuroblastoma (NB) with central nervous system (CNS) metastases is rare at diagnosis, but occurs more often during relapse/progression. Patients with CNS metastases face a dismal prognosis, with no standardized curative treatment available.

Optimization of Mechanical Properties in Biomedical-Grade Polylactic Acid (PLA) Components Fabricated Via Fuzed Filament Fabrication (FFF)

open access: yesAdvances in Polymer Technology
The growing demand for personalized biomedical devices positions polylactic acid (PLA) as a useful material because it is biodegradable and biocompatible while being easily processed by additive manufacturing.

Additive Combination Spaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We introduce a class of metric spaces called $p$-additive combinations and show that for such spaces we may deduce information about their $p$-negative type behaviour by focusing on a relatively small collection of almost disjoint metric subspaces, which

Misspecification in mixed-model based association analysis

open access: yes, 2015
Additive genetic variance in natural populations is commonly estimated using mixed models, in which the covariance of the genetic effects is modeled by a genetic similarity matrix derived from a dense set of markers.

Pathogenic Germline PALB2 and RAD50 Variants in Patients With Relapsed Ewing Sarcoma

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Approximately 10% of patients with Ewing sarcoma (EwS) have pathogenic germline variants. Here, we report two cases: first, a novel germline pathogenic variant in partner and localizer of BRCA2 (PALB2) in a patient with a late EwS relapse. Its impact on homologous recombination is demonstrated, and breast cancer risk is discussed.

Patient‐Level Barriers and Facilitators to Inpatient Physical Therapy in Adolescents and Young Adults With a Hematological Malignancy: A Qualitative Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Despite their increased risk for functional impairment resulting from cancer and its treatments, few adolescents and young adults (AYAs) with a hematological malignancy receive the recommended or therapeutic dose of exercise per week during inpatient hospitalizations.
