Laser powder bed fusion of JIS SKD61 tool steel is systematically optimized using a Taguchi design and ANOVA. Hatch spacing and layer thickness are identified as dominant parameters controlling surface roughness and tensile strength. Subsequent tempering at 600°C improves microstructural stability and mechanical performance, enabling high‐density SKD61

Coaxial Wire Feeding-Friction Stir Additive Manufacturing
At present, most studies in the field of Wire-Friction Stir Additive Manufacturing (W-FSAM) adopt the side wire feeding method. However, the side wire feeding method has problems in that the wire feeding tube occupies working space and the tool is prone ...

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

ABSTRACT As a commonly used bushing current‐carrying structure in recent years, contactor‐type electrical connection parts operate in a complex environment of electric, thermal and chemical corrosion for extended periods. With the increase of ultra‐high voltage (UHV) transmission capacity, its operating environment faces more stringent challenges, and ...

Uncovering hidden bias in neutron diffraction residual strain measurements
This work demonstrates that diffraction‐based residual strain calculations and uncertainty estimates depend on how grain populations are sub‐sampled, with important implications for interpreting residual stresses in heterogeneous materials with fine‐scale microstructure and strain gradients. When calculating residual strain via neutron or X‐ray ...

Abstract What happens when venture capitalists try to reinvent housing in their own image? Synonymous with the rise of Big Tech, venture capitalists (VCs) are asset managers that invest in early‐stage companies, pursuing aggressive growth and market domination. Since the 2008 financial crisis, VCs have poured huge sums into real estate start‐ups.

Cryo‐EM structures of multiple‐peptide resistance factor (MprF) from Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Cryo‐EM analysis of MprF from Pseudomonas aeruginosa reveals a dimeric enzyme, distinct from Rhizobium homologues. The soluble GNAT domain contains a dynamic amphipathic helix (TTH) that adopts different positions in detergent micelle and nanodisc, relative to the membrane.

Potential of organogel‐based colloidal hydrogels for new cosmetic formulations
Colloidal hydrogels are formed by combining anionic, cationic, or nonionic surfactants with two oils of cosmetic interest: sweet almond oil and phytosqualane. These systems are obtained through hot emulsification followed by cooling, which leads to the aggregation of gel‐like particles.
