Shaping gain of the partially coherent additive white Gaussian noise channel
IEEE Communications Letters, 2002We derive necessary conditions on the channel input and output probability density functions (PDFs) to achieve channel capacity for the additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel with Tikhonov distributed phase error. We show that the Gaussian input does not achieve capacity, and we obtain a lower bound on the shaping gain. The shaping gain can be as

A simple converse for broadcast channels with additive white Gaussian noise (Corresp.)
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1974Summary: Sets of achievable rates for the additive white Gaussian noise broadcast channel have been found by \textit{T. M. Cover} [IEEE Trans. Inf. Theory 18, 2--14 (1972; Zbl 0228.94008)] for channels with two outputs and generalized by the author [``Random coding theorem for broadcast channels with degraded components.'' ibid. 19, No.

Suboptimal FIR Filtering of Nonlinear Models in Additive White Gaussian Noise
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2012The first- and second-order extended finite impulse response (EFIR1 and EFIR2, respectively) filters are addressed for suboptimal estimation of nonlinear discrete-time state-space models with additive white Gaussian noise. It is shown that, unlike the extended Kalman filter (EKF) and EFIR2 filter, the EFIR1 one does not require noise statistics and ...

On the error probability of signals in additive white Gaussian noise
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1991A new upper bound to the probability of error in detecting one of M equally probable signals in additive white Gaussian noise is presented. This bound is easy to calculate, can be applied to any signal set. It is always better than the union and minimum distance bounds. Examples demonstrate the use of the bound. >

The Estimation of Laplace Random Vectors in Additive White Gaussian Noise
IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2008This paper develops and compares the maximum a posteriori (MAP) and minimum mean-square error (MMSE) estimators for spherically contoured multivariate Laplace random vectors in additive white Gaussian noise. The MMSE estimator is expressed in closed-form using the generalized incomplete gamma function.

Influence of Additive White Gaussian Noise on the OEO Output
IEEE Journal of Quantum Electronics, 2021This paper audits the output carrier-to-noise ratio of a single-loop OEO when the incoming signal is contaminated with additive white Gaussian noise. Investigations have been carried out for the possibility of increasing the output carrier-to-noise ratio.

Blind deconvolution of Gaussian blurred images containing additive white Gaussian noise
2013 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2013Image restoration algorithms are used to reconstruct the information that is suppressed when an observed image is subjected to blurring. These algorithms generally assume that knowledge of the nature of the distortion and noise contained in an observed image is available.
