Information capacity of additive white gaussian noise channel with practical constraints

IEE Proceedings I Communications, Speech and Vision, 1990
The paper describes the determination of the additive white Gaussian noise channel information transmission capacity when the channel input and output are limited by certain constraints. The channel input constraints are those of signal amplitude, or signal amplitude and average power.

Additive white Gaussian noise level estimation based on block SVD

2014 IEEE Workshop on Electronics, Computer and Applications, 2014
Accurate estimation of noise level is of fundamental interest in a wide variety of vision and image processing applications as it is critical to the processing techniques that follow. In this paper, a new, effective noise level estimation method is proposed based on existing noise estimation methods in SVD domain.

Escape through an unstable limit cycle driven by multiplicative colored non-Gaussian and additive white Gaussian noises

Physical Review E, 2007
In a previous paper [Bag and Hu, Phys. Rev. E 73, 061107 (2006)], we studied the mean lifetime (MLT) for the escape of a Brownian particle through an unstable limit cycle driven by multiplicative colored Gaussian and additive Gaussian white noises and found resonant activation (RA) behavior.

Rateless unequal error protection codes for the additive white Gaussian noise channel

MILCOM 2009 - 2009 IEEE Military Communications Conference, 2009
Unequal error protection (UEP) and rateless coding are both methods used to combat channel uncertainty. With a rateless code, the code rate automatically adapts to the channel quality through the use of incremental redundancy. However, a rateless code lacks the ability to differentiate priorities and all bits suffer the same long delay in poor channel ...

Probabilistic Solution of Vibro-Impact Systems Under Additive Gaussian White Noise

Journal of Vibration and Acoustics, 2014
This paper presents a solution procedure for the stationary probability density function (PDF) of the response of vibro-impact systems under additive Gaussian white noise. The constraint is a unilateral zero-offset barrier. The vibro-impact system is first converted into a system without barriers using the Zhuravlev nonsmooth coordinate transformation.

Nonlinear distributed source-channel coding over orthogonal additive white Gaussian noise channels

2009 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing, 2009
The problem of designing simple and energy-efficient nonlinear distributed source-channel codes is considered. By demonstrating similarities between this problem and the problem of bandwidth expansion, a structure for source-channel codes is presented and analyzed.

On the capacity of the partially coherent additive white gaussian noise channel

IEEE International Symposium on Information Theory, 2003. Proceedings., 2003
We prove that the capacity-achieving PDF for the average-power-constrained AWGN chan- nel with Tikhonov phase error is discrete in amplitude and uniform in phase (DAUP). Numerical capacity lower-bound computations show significant gains over the best previously published lower bound.

Multiple copy combining schemes for the additive white Gaussian noise channel

2009
A generalized version of a memory automatic repeat request (ARQ) scheme [15-221 using hard, soft, and completely soft detection is examined. The communication channel is modeled as an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. The following six combining schemes are considered.
