Detailed reservoir inversion addressing geological problems in reservoir development

Applied Geophysics, 2007
In the Ken 71 development block, fluvial facies of the Neogene Guantao Formation and delta facies of the Paleogene Dongying Formation are the main pay beds. It is a multiple oil and water system which is complicated by faults. Characteristics of the block include a dense well network, thin reservoirs, complicated horizontal relationships, and small ...

Addressing artifacts in PP-PS registration prior to performing joint impedance inversion

The Leading Edge, 2020
Abstract Multicomponent seismic data analysis enhances confidence in interpretation by providing mode-converted PS data for imaging the subsurface. Integrated interpretation of PP and PS data begins with the identification of reflections corresponding to similar geologic events on both data sets. This identification is accomplished by

Honored guest's address. The inverse relationship between cost and prognosis

The Laryngoscope, 1984
AbstractWhile doctors get the blame for increasing medical costs, studies show that societal, political factors, and medicine's limitations are the culprit.Clinicians (I use the term to distinguish between those M.D.s who work at the bedside and others who are in nonpatient direct care) are well aware of the huge costs associated with serious illness ...

Analytical techniques for addressing forward and inverse problems of light scattering by irregularly shaped particles

Optics Letters, 2004
Understanding light scattering by nonspherical particles is crucial in modeling the transport of light in realistic structures such as biological tissues. We report the application of novel analytical approaches based on modified Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin and equiphase-sphere methods that facilitate accurate characterization of light scattering by a ...

Addressing the Inverse Care Law in Developmental Coordination Disorder and Related Neurodevelopmental Disorders

Current Developmental Disorders Reports, 2018
The aim of the study is to examine the current evidence of systems and structures for accessing neurodevelopmental disorder services, with a focus on developmental coordination disorder (DCD). Despite evidence that DCD co-occurs with a number of other developmental disorders, services are often delivered for single conditions separated in space and ...

Interactive Multi-Objective Inverse Groundwater Modeling — Formulation and Addressing User Fatigue

World Environmental and Water Resource Congress 2006, 2006
This paper builds on work done on using interactive multi-objective genetic algorithms (IMOGA) to solve the groundwater inverse problem (Singh & Minsker, 2005) by searching for optimal hydraulic conductivity fields conditioned on field measurements of hydraulic heads and conductivities. The biggest challenge faced when using such interactive systems is

Selective charge-inversion addressing method for driving AC plasma display panel

Displays, 2002
This paper proposes a method to drive an AC plasma display panel at a significantly reduced scan time. To reduce the scan time, the proposed method uses an unselective dark reset discharge, which turns on all cells weakly, and then writes the picture data using a selective charge-inverting scan discharge.

Addressing cycle‐skipping in full‐waveform inversion using acoustic wave energy

Geophysical Prospecting
AbstractLimitations in acquisition technologies lead to insufficient low‐frequency signals in field seismic data. Local optimization methods are the common approaches for full‐waveform inversion. Inaccurate initial velocity models and lack of low‐frequency signals in seismic data typically cause the local‐gradient‐based full‐waveform inversion to ...
