Risk assessment of N‐nitrosamines in food
Abstract EFSA was asked for a scientific opinion on the risks to public health related to the presence of N‐nitrosamines (N‐NAs) in food. The risk assessment was confined to those 10 carcinogenic N‐NAs occurring in food (TCNAs), i.e. NDMA, NMEA, NDEA, NDPA, NDBA, NMA, NSAR, NMOR, NPIP and NPYR.

Multi-adductomics: Advancing mass spectrometry techniques for comprehensive exposome characterization. [PDF]
Adductomics, an emerging field within the 'omics sciences, focuses on the formation and prevalence of DNA, RNA, and protein adducts induced by endogenous and exogenous agents in biological systems. These modifications often result from exposure to environmental pollutants, dietary components, and xenobiotics, impacting cellular functions and ...

Lipid peroxidation derived reactive carbonyl species in free and conjugated forms as an index of lipid peroxidation: limits and perspectives [PDF]
Reactive carbonyl species (RCS) formed by lipidperoxidation as free forms or as enzymatic and non-enzymatic conjugates are widely used as an index of oxidative stress.

The Future of DNA Adductomic Analysis [PDF]
Covalent modification of DNA, resulting in the formation of DNA adducts, plays a central role in chemical carcinogenesis. Investigating these modifications is of fundamental importance in assessing the mutagenicity potential of specific exposures and understanding their mechanisms of action. Methods for assessing the covalent modification of DNA, which

Special Issue "Adductomics: Elucidating the Environmental Causes of Disease". [PDF]
Adductomics studies represent effective tools for providing additional insights into how exposure to reactive metabolites can underlie disease mechanisms. This special issue is focused not only on summarizing the analytical methodologies used for DNA, protein, and mercapturic acid adductomics tools but also on highlighting the opportunities and ...

Adductome-based identification of biomarkers for lipid peroxidation [PDF]
Lipid peroxidation is an endogenous source of aldehydes that gives rise to covalent modification of proteins in various pathophysiological states. In this study, a strategy for the comprehensive detection and comparison of adducts was applied to find a biomarker for lipid peroxidation-modified proteins in vivo This adductome approach utilized liquid ...

Mapping the Human Exposome to Uncover the Causes of Breast Cancer. [PDF]
Breast cancer is an important cause of morbidity and mortality for women, yet a significant proportion of variation in individual risk is unexplained. It is reasonable to infer that unexplained breast cancer risks are caused by a myriad of exposures and ...

Systems toxicology is a broad-based approach to describe many of the toxicological features that occur within a living system under stress or subjected to exogenous or endogenous exposures. The ultimate goal is to capture an overview of all exposures and the ensuing biological responses of the body.
