Methods and Challenges for Computational Data Analysis for DNA Adductomics

open access: yesChemical Research in Toxicology, 2019
Frequent exposure to chemicals in the environment, diet, and endogenous electrophiles leads to chemical modification of DNA and the formation of DNA adducts. Some DNA adducts can induce mutations during cell division and, when occurring in critical regions of the genome, can lead to the onset of disease, including cancer.

New Exposure Biomarkers as Tools for Breast Cancer Epidemiology, Biomonitoring, and Prevention: A Systematic Approach Based on Animal Evidence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Background: Exposure to chemicals that cause rodent mammary gland tumors is common, but few studies have evaluated potential breast cancer risks of these chemicals in humans.

Paraoxonase-1 and Early-Life Environmental Exposures

open access: yesAnnals of Global Health, 2016
Acute and chronic exposures to widely used organophosphorus (OP) insecticides are common. Children's detoxification mechanisms are not well developed until several years after birth.

Chemical and Biological Characterization of Particulate Matter (PM 2.5) and Volatile Organic Compounds Collected at Different Sites in the Los Angeles Basin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background: Most studies on air pollution (AP) exposure have focused on adverse health effects of particulate matter (PM). Less well-studied are the actions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) not retained in PM collections.

Cys34 Adductomics Links Colorectal Cancer with the Gut Microbiota and Redox Biology [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Research, 2019
Abstract Chronic inflammation is an established risk factor for colorectal cancer. To study reactive products of gut inflammation and redox signaling on colorectal cancer development, we used untargeted adductomics to detect adduct features in prediagnostic serum from the EPIC Italy cohort. We

The plasma proteome, adductome and idiosyncratic toxicity in toxicoproteomics research [PDF]

open access: yesBriefings in Functional Genomics and Proteomics, 2008
Toxicoproteomics uses the discovery potential of proteomics in toxicology research by applying global protein measurement technologies to biofluids and tissues after host exposure to injurious agents. Toxicoproteomic studies thus far have focused on protein profiling of major organs and biofluids such as liver and blood in preclinical species exposed ...

Mapping assays to the key characteristics of carcinogens to support decision-making [PDF]

open access: yes
The key characteristics (KCs) of carcinogens are the properties common to known human carcinogens that can be used to search for, organize, and evaluate mechanistic data in support of hazard identification.
