Measurement of adenine nucleotides in plasma

Luminescence, 2003
AbstractThe goal of this study was to identify the most important variables affecting bioluminescent ATP, ADP and AMP measurements in plasma and to develop an assay that takes these variables into account. Blood samples were drawn from conscious dogs.

A new adenine nucleotide

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta, 1953
Abstract A new nucleotide has been shown to be present in commercial samples of adenosine-5′-triphosphate (ATP). The analytical data suggest the structure adenosine-5′-tetraphosphate.

The adenine nucleotide translocator in apoptosis

Biochimie, 2002
Alteration of mitochondrial membrane permeability is a central mechanism leading invariably to cell death, which results, at least in part, from the opening of the permeability transition pore complex (PTPC). Indeed, extended PTPC opening is sufficient to trigger an increase in mitochondrial membrane permeability and apoptosis.

Reactions of Dysprosium with Adenine Nucleotides

Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry, 1988
Dysprosium catalyzes a rapid hydrolysis of both ATP and ADP, at ambient temperatures, pH 7.0, where no hydroxide precipitates. The reactive complexes, at pH 6.7, were found to contain 2Dy:1ATP and 3Dy:2ADP. AMP forms an insoluble complex containing 1Dy:2AMP, which does not hydrolyze.

Adenine nucleotides of the stria vascularis

Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology, 1979
The levels of the adenine nucleotides ATP, ADP, and AMP in the stria vascularis were measured under normal conditions, and following various durations of ischemia. The concentrations of these compounds were used for the calculation of the adenylate energy charge, the energy status and the phosphorylation state of the stria. Following 10 min of ischemia

Mechanisms of inhibition of adenine phosphoribosyltransferase by adenine nucleosides and nucleotides

Canadian Journal of Biochemistry, 1970
Kinetic studies of the inhibition of adenine phosphoribosyltransferase by adenine 6′-deoxyallofuranoside and 2′-deoxyadenylate indicate that both compounds bind to free enzyme and to the enzyme–phosphoribosylpyrophosphate complex, although they bind with different relative affinities to each enzyme form. The sites to which these inhibitors bind appear

The evolution of the adenine nucleotide translocase family

Gene, 2004
Homologous genes are grouped into families whose evolution may be different in the various organisms. For the variety of the processes and the well-known mechanism of gene gain and gene loss, which takes place in genome evolution, we deal in comparative analyses with a "one-to-many" or a "many-to-many" relationship between homologous genes going from ...

Adenine Nucleotide Translocator in Heart

Molecular Genetics and Metabolism, 2000
The adenine nucleotide translocator (ANT) spans the inner mitochondrial membrane and facilitates exchange of cytosolic ADP for ATP within the mitochondrial matrix. ANT represents the most prominent single protein component of the inner mitochondrial membrane (1).

Adenine nucleotides in the carotid body

Cell and Tissue Research, 1980
Remarkably large amounts of adenine nucleotides are identified in type L-cells of the carotid body by fluorescence microscopy (labelling with quinacrine) and electron microscopy (uranaffin reaction). At the fine-structural level of the matrix material of specific granules displays enhanced electron density after fixation with uranium ions.
