Magnetic wire active microrheology of human respiratory mucus [PDF]
Mucus is a viscoelastic gel secreted by the pulmonary epithelium in the tracheobronchial region of the lungs. The coordinated beating of cilia moves mucus upwards towards pharynx, removing inhaled pathogens and particles from the airways. The efficacy of this clearance mechanism depends primarily on the rheological properties of mucus.

Endocervical glandular neoplasia associated with lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia is HPV-independent and correlates with carbonic anhydrase-IX expression: a Gynaecological Oncology Group Study. [PDF]
BackgroundLobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia (LEGH) is a rare lesion of the uterine cervix. It has been proposed that LEGH may represent a precursor lesion to a group of mucinous adenocarcinoma with gastric phenotype (GA) that is independent of ...

The lubricity of mucin solutions is robust toward changes in physiological conditions [PDF]
Solutions of manually purified gastric mucins have been shown to be promising lubricants for biomedical purposes, where they can efficiently reduce friction and wear. However, so far, such mucin solutions have been mostly tested in specific settings, and variations in the composition of the lubricating fluid have not been systematically explored.
