Magnetic wire active microrheology of human respiratory mucus [PDF]

open access: yesSoft Matter, 2021,17, 7585-7595, 2021
Mucus is a viscoelastic gel secreted by the pulmonary epithelium in the tracheobronchial region of the lungs. The coordinated beating of cilia moves mucus upwards towards pharynx, removing inhaled pathogens and particles from the airways. The efficacy of this clearance mechanism depends primarily on the rheological properties of mucus.

Mucinous adenocarcinoma arising in congenital pulmonary airway malformation: clinicopathological analysis of 37 cases

open access: yesHistopathology, 2020
Mucinous adenocarcinoma arising in congenital pulmonary airway malformation (CPAM) is a rare complication, with little being known about its natural course. The aims of this article are to describe a series of mucinous adenocarcinomas arising from CPAMs,

Endocervical glandular neoplasia associated with lobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia is HPV-independent and correlates with carbonic anhydrase-IX expression: a Gynaecological Oncology Group Study. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
BackgroundLobular endocervical glandular hyperplasia (LEGH) is a rare lesion of the uterine cervix. It has been proposed that LEGH may represent a precursor lesion to a group of mucinous adenocarcinoma with gastric phenotype (GA) that is independent of ...

Mucinous Adenocarcinomas of the Vulva

open access: yesGynecologic Oncology, 1995
An 80-year-old nullipara had a 2.0-cm cystic tumor of the right labium majus. Histologic diagnosis was mucinous eccrine carcinoma. Seventy-five percent of these rare skin adnexal tumors arise on the face, eyelid, or scalp; but none has been reported on the vulva.

Genomic characterization reveals distinct mutation landscapes and therapeutic implications in neuroendocrine carcinomas of the gastrointestinal tract

open access: yesCancer Communications, Volume 42, Issue 12, Page 1367-1386, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Neuroendocrine carcinomas of the gastrointestinal tract (GI‐NECs) remain a disease of grim prognosis with limited therapeutic options. Their molecular characteristics are still undefined. This study aimed to explore the underlying genetic basis and heterogeneity of GI‐NECs.

The lubricity of mucin solutions is robust toward changes in physiological conditions [PDF]

open access: yesACS Appl. Bio Mater. 2019, 2, 8, 3448-3457, 2019
Solutions of manually purified gastric mucins have been shown to be promising lubricants for biomedical purposes, where they can efficiently reduce friction and wear. However, so far, such mucin solutions have been mostly tested in specific settings, and variations in the composition of the lubricating fluid have not been systematically explored.

Case report: late perianal mucinous adenocarcinoma after Crohn's disease proctectomy: an oncological rarity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
BACKGROUND: As in ulcerative colitis, there is an increased incidence of colorectal carcinoma in Crohn's disease. While carcinoma formation originating from ano-rectal fistulas is generally considered as a rare event there are different publications ...
