Optimized workup of lymph nodes in regard to UICC classification of colorectal carcinoma

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 88, Issue 6, Page 1250-1267, May 2026.
Treatment and outcome of colon cancer depend significantly on the histopathological examination of lymph nodes. Methodologically, stepwise sectioning and immunohistochemistry are the primary methods used. The extent of this examination is subject to debate but should be maintained at an adequate level in routine laboratory work.

Making sense of TILs: recommendations for morphological assessment of tumour‐infiltrating lymphocytes in gastro‐oesophageal carcinoma

open access: yesHistopathology, Volume 88, Issue 6, Page 1126-1141, May 2026.
This review examines the role of tumour‐infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in gastro‐oesophageal carcinoma (GEC), focusing on their composition, clinical relevance and therapeutic utility. It proposes a framework for standardised evaluation and reporting of TILs, addressing GEC‐specific pathology challenges to support the widespread use and validation of ...

Gain‐of‐function enhancers optimize CAR‐NK cell‐based anti‐cancer immunotherapy

open access: yesImmunology &Cell Biology, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 494-498, May‐June 2026.
Schematic overview of the two‐stage screening approach used to identify NK cell fitness genes. (A) CRISPRa mechanism, showing dCas9‐VP64‐mediated upregulation of target genes. (B) Whole‐genome CRISPRa screening in HER2‐CAR‐NK92 cells transduced with a CRISPR sgRNA library and transferred into mice bearing HT29 tumours, followed by tumour collection and

Inhibitory Activity of Conferone on FAK Activity and Glutamine Metabolism in Human Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Volume 30, Issue 9, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a major global cause of death, with metastases and chemotherapy resistance contributing to poor outcomes. To identify natural compounds with anticancer potential against CRC and elucidate their action mechanisms, the cytotoxicity of 37 natural compounds was evaluated against the HCT116, leading to the identification ...
