The recent recognition of a variety of pediatric renal tumors of different biologic behavior places an ever-increasing demand on the surgical pathologist for an accurate diagnosis. Although metanephric adenofibroma is one of the rarest benign renal tumors, the clinical importance of correctly diagnosing it cannot be overemphasized because it can ...

We report a case of papillary adenofibroma of the uterine corpus in a 31 year-old woman who was initially examined for vaginal bleeding. Pelvic examination showed a large polypoid mass protruding through the cervix canal. A pelvic ultrasound revealed a polypoid cystic mass apparently arising from the uterus. A polypectomy was performed.

A 10-year-old boy underwent a computed tomography (CT) scan for left flank pain following a fall. Imaging demonstrated a 5 cm left upper pole renal mass. Partial nephrectomy revealed metanephric adenofibroma, a benign stromal-epithelial tumor thought to represent a hyperdifferentiated, mature form of Wilms' tumor.

Papillary adenofibroma of the uterine cervix
American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1971Abstract Three papillary tumors of the uterine cervix considered to be true fibromas of the substantia propria are described. Their clinical and histologic features are different from those of the usual endocervical mucosal polyp. The descriptive term papillary adenofibroma is used to avoid confusion with polypoid “fibroid” and fibrous polyp.

Mucinous Adenofibromas of the Ovary
The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 1991Mucinous epithelium is the most uncommon type identified in ovarian adenofibromas. Because of the rarity of mucinous adenofibromas and the presence of cytologic atypia in some, these neoplasms may be mistaken for low-grade metastatic adenocarcinoma. The clinicopathologic features of 10 mucinous adenofibromas are reviewed.
