c‐Rel–dependent Chk2 signaling regulates the DNA damage response limiting hepatocarcinogenesis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
In response to genotoxic injury, c‐Rel upregulates ATM‐Chk2‐p53 pathway DNA damage proteins to limiting hepatocarcinogenesis. Abstract Background and Aims Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a leading cause of cancer‐related death. The NF‐κB transcription factor family subunit c‐Rel is typically protumorigenic; however, it has recently been reported as a

From pituitary adenoma to pituitary neuroendocrine tumor (PitNET): an International Pituitary Pathology Club proposal.

open access: yesEndocrine-Related Cancer, 2017
The classification of neoplasms of adenohypophysial cells is misleading because of the simplistic distinction between adenoma and carcinoma, based solely on metastatic spread and the poor reproducibility and predictive value of the definition of atypical

A nationwide assessment of hepatocellular adenoma resection: Indications and pathological discordance

open access: yesHepatology Communications, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Hepatocellular adenomas (HCAs) are benign liver tumors associated with bleeding or malignant transformation. Data on the indication for surgery are scarce. We analyzed indications and outcome of patients operated for HCAs < 50 mm compared to HCAs ≥ 50 mm. Changes in final postoperative diagnosis were assessed.

Features of Clinical Course and Diagnosis of Patients with Family History of Non-Functioning Pituitary Adenomas

open access: yesMìžnarodnij Endokrinologìčnij Žurnal, 2013
The study of the incidence of non-functioning pituitary adenomas (NFPA) among relatives is important for the choice of strategy and tactics of treatment of these patients, for the development of methods for predicting the population in families with a ...

Long-term use of antibiotics and risk of colorectal adenoma

open access: yesGut, 2017
Objective Recent evidence suggests that antibiotic use, which alters the gut microbiome, is associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. However, the association between antibiotic use and risk of colorectal adenoma, the precursor for the ...

The atypical KRASQ22K mutation directs TGF‐β response towards partial epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in patient‐derived colorectal cancer tumoroids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
TGF‐β has a complex role in cancer, exhibiting both tumor‐suppressive and tumor‐promoting properties. Using a series of differentiated tumoroids, derived from different stages and mutational background of colorectal cancer patients, we replicate this duality of TGF‐β in vitro. Notably, the atypical but highly aggressive KRASQ22K mutation rendered early‐

Causal associations of COVID‐19 on neurosurgical diseases risk: a Mendelian randomization study

open access: yesHuman Genomics
Many researchers have explored the potential association between one neurosurgical disease and coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), but few systematically analyzed the association and causality between COVID-19 and various neurosurgical diseases.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

Meta-analysis of 16S rRNA Microbial Data Identified Distinctive and Predictive Microbiota Dysbiosis in Colorectal Carcinoma Adjacent Tissue

open access: yesmSystems, 2020
As research focusing on the colorectal cancer fecal microbiome using shotgun sequencing continues, increasing evidence has supported correlations between colorectal carcinomas (CRCs) and fecal microbiome dysbiosis.
