Improving Precancerous Case Characterization via Transformer-based Ensemble Learning [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
The application of natural language processing (NLP) to cancer pathology reports has been focused on detecting cancer cases, largely ignoring precancerous cases. Improving the characterization of precancerous adenomas assists in developing diagnostic tests for early cancer detection and prevention, especially for colorectal cancer (CRC).

Making colonoscopy‐based screening more efficient: A “gateopener” approach

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 152, Issue 5, Page 952-961, 1 March 2023., 2023
What's new? Although colonoscopy is a widely used screening tool for colorectal cancer (CRC), it is relatively inefficient, as most of the screened subjects would never develop CRC even without screening. In the present study, use of a low‐threshold fecal immunochemical test (“gateopener” FIT) was investigated as a means of streamlining screening ...

Adenomas broncopulmonares

open access: yesRevista Portuguesa de Pneumologia, 2004
Adenomas of solitary gland type together with papillomas are the true benign tumours in or around the bronchial tree. Alveolar adenoma and papillary adenoma are more frequently observed in peripheral parenchime although this group of tumours is very rare and often incidentally diagnosed.

Preoperative Volume Determination for Pituitary Adenoma [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The most common sellar lesion is the pituitary adenoma, and sellar tumors are approximately 10-15% of all intracranial neoplasms. Manual slice-by-slice segmentation takes quite some time that can be reduced by using the appropriate algorithms. In this contribution, we present a segmentation method for pituitary adenoma.

Microbiome distinctions between the CRC carcinogenic pathways

open access: yesGut Microbes, 2021
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer, the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths, and has been on the rise among young adults in the United States.

TransResU-Net: Transformer based ResU-Net for Real-Time Colonoscopy Polyp Segmentation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is one of the most common causes of cancer and cancer-related mortality worldwide. Performing colon cancer screening in a timely fashion is the key to early detection. Colonoscopy is the primary modality used to diagnose colon cancer.

A case of hypogonadtropic hypogonadism due to hypophysitis discovered by secondary male infertility

open access: yesIJU Case Reports, Volume 6, Issue 1, Page 51-53, January 2023., 2023
Introduction The main causes of secondary male infertility are varicocele and aging. It is rarely caused by adult‐onset hypopituitarism. The onset of hypopituitarism is often due to brain tumors, trauma, surgery, or congenital disorders. Case presentation A 29‐year‐old man was admitted to the hospital with complaints of decreased libido and semen ...

Meta-analysis of 16S rRNA Microbial Data Identified Distinctive and Predictive Microbiota Dysbiosis in Colorectal Carcinoma Adjacent Tissue

open access: yesmSystems, 2020
As research focusing on the colorectal cancer fecal microbiome using shotgun sequencing continues, increasing evidence has supported correlations between colorectal carcinomas (CRCs) and fecal microbiome dysbiosis.

ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.
