Purine-Metabolizing Ectoenzymes Control IL-8 Production in Human Colon HT-29 Cells

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2014
Interleukin-8 (IL-8) plays key roles in both chronic inflammatory diseases and tumor modulation. We previously observed that IL-8 secretion and function can be modulated by nucleotide (P2) receptors.

Calcium-dependent increases in protein kinase-A activity in mouse retinal ganglion cells are mediated by multiple adenylate cyclases.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2009
Neurons undergo long term, activity dependent changes that are mediated by activation of second messenger cascades. In particular, calcium-dependent activation of the cyclic-AMP/Protein kinase A signaling cascade has been implicated in several ...

Linkage between Fitness of Yeast Cells and Adenylate Kinase Catalysis. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Enzymes have evolved with highly specific values of their catalytic parameters kcat and KM. This poses fundamental biological questions about the selection pressures responsible for evolutionary tuning of these parameters.

A guanosine 5′-triphosphate-dependent protein kinase is localized in the outer envelope membrane of pea chloroplasts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
A guanosine 5-triphosphate (GTP)-dependent protein kinase was detected in preparations of outer chloroplast envelope membranes of pea (Pisum sativum L.) chloroplasts.

Induced-fit movements in adenylate kinases [PDF]

open access: yesFaraday Discussions, 1992
Adenylate kinases have an M(r) around 23,000 which classifies them among the smallest phosphoryl group transferring enzymes. In order to prevent phosphoryl transfer to water, i.e. hydrolysis, these enzymes undergo induced-fit motions on substrate binding and assemble/disassemble their catalytic centres during each reaction cycle.

Amyloid-β peptide absence in short term effects on kinase activity of energy metabolism in mice hippocampus and cerebral cortex

open access: yesAnais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências, 2016
Considering that Alzheimer's disease is a prevalent neurodegenerative disease worldwide, we investigated the activities of three key kinases: creatine kinase, pyruvate kinase and adenylate kinase in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex in Alzheimer's ...

Minimum free energy path of ligand-induced transition in adenylate kinase. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2012
Large-scale conformational changes in proteins involve barrier-crossing transitions on the complex free energy surfaces of high-dimensional space. Such rare events cannot be efficiently captured by conventional molecular dynamics simulations.

Time Course of the Increase in the Myocardial Slow Inward Current after a Photochemically Generated Concentration Jump of Intracellular cAMP [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Voltage-clamped atrial trabeculae from bullfrog hearts were exposed to membrane-permeant photolyzable o-nitrobenzyl esters of cAMP and cGMP. UV flashes produced intracellular concentration jumps of cAMP or cGMP. With the cAMP derivative, flashes resulted

Advances in RIPK1 kinase inhibitors

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Programmed necrosis is a new modulated cell death mode with necrotizing morphological characteristics. Receptor interacting protein 1 (RIPK1) is a critical mediator of the programmed necrosis pathway that is involved in stroke, myocardial infarction ...

Regulation of the G2/M Transition in Rodent Oocytes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Regulation of maturation in meiotically competent mammalian oocytes is a complex process involving the carefully coordinated exchange of signals between the somatic and germ cell compartments of the ovarian follicle via paracrine and cell–cell coupling ...
