Adhesion molecules controlling lymphocyte migration [PDF]
Two newly characterized structural families of adhesion molecules, in concert with known members of the integrin and immunoglobulin supergene families, mediate the interaction of circulating lymphoid cells with the vessel wall. The Hermes/CD44 antigen family participates in attachment to multiple vascular beds and consists of a common polypeptide core ...

Cell Adhesion Strength Is Controlled by Intermolecular Spacing of Adhesion Receptors [PDF]
Spatial patterning of biochemical cues on the micro- and nanometer scale controls numerous cellular processes such as spreading, adhesion, migration, and proliferation. Using force microscopy we show that the lateral spacing of individual integrin receptor-ligand bonds determines the strength of cell adhesion.

Three Functionally Distinct Adhesions in Filopodia: Shaft Adhesions Control Lamellar Extension [PDF]
In this study, adhesions on individual filopodial shafts were shown to control veil (lamellar) advance and to be modulated by guidance cues. Adhesions were detected in individual filopodia of sensory growth cones using optical recordings, adhesion markers, and electron microscopy.

Spatial Control of Neuronal Adhesion on Diamond-Like Carbon
This study reports a route to spatial control of neuronal adhesion onto Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) by surface functionalisation by poly (oligo-ethyleneglycol methacrylate) (pOEGMA) and consequent laser ablation to produce cell adhesive tracks.

Application of permanent magnet synchronous direct-drive traction system on Xuzhou metro line 1
Metro trains have the advantages of high starting acceleration, high operating speed, punctuality and large carrying capacity, but energy consumption is also an important issue that needs close attention in metro operation.

Adhesion Control of High-Speed Train Based on Improved Nonlinear Kalman Filter
In the operation of high-speed trains, the effective transmission of traction force heavily relies on the adhesion between the wheel and the rail. Excessive traction or braking force may exceed the adhesion limit, causing wheel creep or slide, which ...

Light-Controlled Adhesive Hydrogels for On-Demand Adhesion
The rapid and reversible adhesion between solids is of great significance, particularly in fields such as biomedicine, intelligent machines, and bioelectronic sensors. Hydrogels, as soft materials, play a vital role in reversible adhesion. To achieve a wider range of applications, it is essential to enhance the intelligence of hydrogels.
