Rapid and Stable Recovery Method in Re-adhesion for High-cold EMUs

open access: yes机车电传动, 2018
The bad operation environment of the high-speed EMUs is a big challenge to adhesion control of the rail between the wheel and rail. A method of rapid and stable recovery method in re-adhesion for high-cold EMUs was proposed, which could ensure the smooth

Adhesion Control of Heavy-Duty Locomotive Based on Axle Traction Control System

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The traction force of heavy-duty locomotive is reduced significantly and unable to fulfill the actual traction demand when the wheel slip phenomenon occurs. Aiming at this problem, an adhesion control method is proposed in this paper. The proposed method

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Train optimal slip rate anti-skid control based on parameter estimation [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Advances
Since existing train braking anti-slip control strategies struggle to fully utilize rail adhesion, this study focuses on rail vehicle air brake systems. Based on wheel–rail adhesion–slip characteristics and online parameter estimation theory, this study ...

Robust Control Design of Active Front-Wheel Steering on Low-Adhesion Road Surfaces

open access: yesWorld Electric Vehicle Journal, 2021
In order to improve the stability of vehicle steering on low-adhesion road surfaces, this paper designed a hybrid robust control strategy, H2/H∞, for active front-wheel steering (AFS) based on robust control theory.

Friction-Controlled Traction Force in Cell Adhesion [PDF]

open access: yesBiophysical Journal, 2011
The force balance between the extracellular microenvironment and the intracellular cytoskeleton controls the cell fate. We report a new (to our knowledge) mechanism of receptor force control in cell adhesion originating from friction between cell adhesion ligands and the supporting substrate.

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...
