ABSTRACT We study eigenvalue problems for the de Rham complex on varying three‐dimensional domains. Our analysis includes the Helmholtz equation as well as the Maxwell system with mixed boundary conditions and non‐constant coefficients. We provide Hadamard‐type formulas for the shape derivatives under weak regularity assumptions on the domain and its ...

Adjoint and self-adjoint differential operators on graphs
A differential operator on a directed graph with weighted edges is characterized as a system of ordinary differential operators. A class of local operators is introduced to clarify which operators should be considered as defined on the graph.

Les politiques migratoires reposent sur des catégories administratives complexes qui structurent, hiérarchisent et contrôlent les populations mobiles. Cet article explore la fabrique de la catégorie des « réfugié·es LGBTI » en France, en analysant ses ...

Measurement and self-adjoint operators [PDF]
The approximations of classical mechanics resulting from quantum mechanics are richer than a correspondence of classical dynamical variables with self-adjoint Hilbert space operators.

Asymptotics for the Spectrum of the Laplacian in Thin Bars with Varying Cross Sections
ABSTRACT We consider spectral problems for the Laplace operator in 3D rod structures with a small cross section of diameter O(ε)$$ O\left(\varepsilon \right) $$, ε$$ \varepsilon $$ being a positive parameter. The boundary conditions are Dirichlet (Neumann, respectively) on the bases of this structure, and Neumann on the lateral boundary.

New classes of nonlinearly self-adjoint evolution equations of third- and fifth-order
In a recent communication Nail Ibragimov introduced the concept of nonlinearly self-adjoint differential equation [N. H. Ibragimov, Nonlinear self-adjointness and conservation laws, J. Phys. A: Math. Theor., vol. 44, 432002, 8 pp., (2011)].

The Linearized Inverse Boundary Value Problem in Strain Gradient Elasticity
ABSTRACT In this paper we study the linearized version of the strain gradient elasticity equation in ℝ2$$ {\mathbb{R}}^2 $$ with constant coefficients and we prove that one can determine the two Lamé coefficients λ,μ$$ \lambda, \mu $$ as well as the internal strain gradient parameter g$$ g $$, as indicated by Mindlin in his revolutionary papers in 1963–

Joint measurability through Naimark's theorem [PDF]
We use Naimark's dilation theorem in order to characterize the joint measurability of two POVMs. Then, we analyze the joint measurability of two commutative POVMs $F_1$ and $F_2$ which are the smearing of two self-adjoint operators $A_1$ and $A_2 ...
