Online Learning in Idealized Ocean Gyres
Abstract Ocean turbulence parameterization has principally been based on process‐based approaches, seeking to embed physical principles so that coarser resolution calculations can capture the net influence of smaller scale unresolved processes. More recently there has been an increasing focus on the application of data‐driven approaches to this problem.

Abstract From the mid‐late 2000s through at least the mid‐2010s, dynamic sea level (DSL) along the U.S. Gulf Coast rose at a rate of ∼5–6 mm yr−1 ${\text{yr}}^{-1}$, almost twice the rate of global mean steric plus barystatic sea level rise. Previous statistical and numerical modeling studies have suggested a number of hypotheses for this enhanced rise.

Differentiable River Routing for End‐to‐End Learning of Hydrological Processes
Abstract Deep Learning (DL) approaches have shown high accuracy in rainfall runoff modeling. Currently, however, large‐scale DL hydrological simulations at national and global scales still rely on external routing schemes to propagate runoff outputs through river networks, preventing them from leveraging the benefits of end‐to‐end learning of ...

Abstract Turbidites have been widely studied as indicators of the occurrences and magnitudes of paleo‐tsunamis and paleo‐earthquakes. Inversion to estimate flow conditions from turbidites offers valuable insights into the magnitudes of paleo‐seismic and tsunami events.
