CSF cytokine, chemokine and injury biomarker profile of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) autoimmunity

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Defining the CSF cytokine/chemokine and injury biomarker signature of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) autoimmunity can inform immunopathogenesis. CSF GFAP‐IgG‐positive samples (N = 98) were tested for 17 cytokines/chemokines, neurofilament light chain (NfL), and GFAP (ELLA, Bio‐Techne).

Clinical impact and safety of brain biopsy in unexplained central nervous system disorders: a real‐world cohort study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective A substantial part of central nervous system (CNS) disorders remains unexplained, despite various new and minimally invasive diagnostic techniques. Within this rapidly developing diagnostic field, the precise role of brain biopsy is unknown.

Home‐Based Tele‐tDCS in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis: Feasibility, Safety, and Preliminary Efficacy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease with limited treatment options. Transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) shows promise as a neuromodulatory intervention in various neurological disorders, but its application in ALS, particularly in a remote, home‐based format, remains underexplored.

A Large Language Model Pipeline for Breast Cancer Oncology [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated potential in the innovation of many disciplines. However, how they can best be developed for oncology remains underdeveloped. State-of-the-art OpenAI models were fine-tuned on a clinical dataset and clinical guidelines text corpus for two important cancer treatment factors, adjuvant radiation therapy and ...

No evidence of histology subtype-specific prognostic signatures among lung adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma patients at early stages [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Background Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the predominant histological type of lung cancer, accounting for up to 85% of cases. Disease stage is commonly used to determine adjuvant treatment eligibility of NSCLC patients, however, it is an imprecise predictor of the prognosis of an individual patient.

Cortical Excitability Before and After Long‐Term Perampanel Treatment for Epilepsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Antiseizure medications (ASMs), which may influence cortical excitability, are the mainstay of epilepsy treatment. Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) helps evaluate cortical excitability. We assessed changes in TMS responses using serial TMS measurements in people treated with an adjunctive noncompetitive AMPA‐receptor ...

Guiding Treatment Strategies: The Role of Adjuvant Anti-Her2 Neu Therapy and Skin/Nipple Involvement in Local Recurrence-Free Survival in Breast Cancer Patients [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
This study explores how causal inference models, specifically the Linear Non-Gaussian Acyclic Model (LiNGAM), can extract causal relationships between demographic factors, treatments, conditions, and outcomes from observational patient data, enabling insights beyond correlation.
