Implantable Microarray Patch: Engineering at the Nano and Macro Scale for Sustained Therapeutic Release via Synthetic Biodegradable Polymers

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
This review focuses on the application of synthetic biodegradable microarray patches (MAPs) in sustained drug delivery. Compared to conventional MAPs which release drugs into the skin in an immediate manner, these implantable MAPs release drugs into skin microcirculation gradually as the biodegradable polymers degrade, thus offering sustained release ...

Miniaturized Devices for On‐the‐Spot Generation of Small‐Diameter Vascular Grafts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An intracorporeal extrusion device is developed for on‐the‐spot generation of vascular grafts with tunable diameters spanning from 1 to 6 mm. The device uses biomimetic polymers and light, to promptly obtaining biocompatible and high‐burst pressure‐resistant grafts.

Enhanced Performance 3‐D Printed PLA Parts through a Photo‐Initiator Mediated UV‐Curing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This solvent‐free method enhances 3‐D printed PLA parts by incorporating photo‐initiators during fabrication, followed by up to 3 min UV treatment. This process improves PLA's mechanical properties, including a 64% increase in tensile strength, while addressing weak interlayer bonding and outdoor sensitivity.

Magnetic Field Imaging with an Optical Microscope Using a Quantum Diamond Sensor Add‐On

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A retrofit system is presented which transforms standard optical microscopes into a powerful tool for magnetic imaging. The add‐on integrates the sensor based on the nitrogen‐vacancy centre in diamond, light source, microwave antenna, and bias magnet, and enables brightfield, darkfield, and magnetic imaging modes.
