Mucoadhesive gels for buccal administration of chloexidine digluconate
2005Chlorhexidine (CHX) is a bis-bis-guanide widely used to treat skin and mucosa infections, efficient against a wide range of microbial species. The aim of this work was to design and evaluate gels containing CHX associated to mucoadhesive and swelling agents, such as CMC, HPMC, HPC and Poloxamer, to control both the residence time in the oral cavity and

Buccal administration of fenoterol aerosol in childhood asthma.
European journal of respiratory diseases, 1985We have studied 23 asthmatic children who were wheezy when attending a hospital clinic or following tests for exercise-induced asthma. Fenoterol was administered by metered dose aerosol against the buccal mucosa on the inside of the cheek. This produced marked improvement in peak-expiratory-flow-rate and relieved clinical symptoms.

Streptozocin-induced diabetic female Wistar rats were used in this study. Insulin (100 U) either free (i.e., insulin solution) or associated with a carrier, namely erythrocyte-ghosts (EG) and liposomes-vesicles (LEV), was administered ...
