Rocking and Rolling of Rigid Polygons Under Seismic Excitation

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We present an event driven analytical framework for rigid cyclic polygons subjected to horizontal ground excitation in which uplift, impact, and successive pivot switching are treated within a unified non‐smooth dynamical description. Rolling is defined as a sequence of energetically admissible transitions between neighbouring vertices tied to

Seismic Fragility of Gravity and Semi‐Gravity Retaining Walls and Its Impact on the Functionality Loss of Road Infrastructures

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Retaining walls are key geotechnical components of road infrastructure, whose seismic performance directly affects the resilience of transportation networks. Despite their importance, seismic fragility models for retaining walls available in the literature refer only to specific case studies.

Identifying Affective Patterns in Patients With Eating Disorders: A Latent Profile Analysis

open access: yesEuropean Eating Disorders Review, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Emotional difficulties are common among individuals with Eating Disorders (EDs). Following Panksepp's theoretical model, which conceptualises primary emotional systems as the evolutionary foundation of personality, this study aimed to identify distinct profiles of primary emotional systems within a clinical eating disorder (ED ...

Transmission Loss Prediction Using Neural Networks With Correlation‐Derived Input Features

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A neural network model for transmission loss prediction is enhanced using correlation‐based derived features from operational and meteorological data. The approach improves prediction accuracy by capturing temporal behavior without increasing neural network architectural complexity.

HRR–Time Behaviour of Untreated Wood Under SBI Conditions: Implications for the Interpretation of FIGRA and THR600

open access: yesFire and Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Reaction‐to‐fire classification of wood‐based materials in Europe relies on SBI‐derived parameters such as FIGRA and THR600. While these parameters provide a robust and practical basis for classification, their relationship to the underlying HRR–time development remains difficult to interpret.

INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO EVALUATION OF MANAGEMENT DECISIONS (theoretic and practical issues)

open access: yesМодернизация, инновация, развитие, 2016
Effectiveness of management decisions may be assessed through such criteria as admissibility, efficiency and optimization effect. Management decision expressed in qualitative form is optimal only in case the aim is single, the restrictions are formulated

Temporal Robustness in Cross‐Country Gross Domestic Product Forecasting: Evidence From Classical, Regime‐Switching, and Ensemble Models

open access: yesJournal of Forecasting, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study evaluates whether the relative performance of gross domestic product forecasting models is temporally robust across economies and changing macroeconomic conditions. Using annual real gross domestic product data from the World Bank for 177 separately reported economies and territories, we conduct a common‐vintage pseudo‐out‐of‐sample

Shape of Yield Curves Under Instrument‐Based Parallel Shifts

open access: yesJournal of Futures Markets, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper studies the shape of zero and par yield curves through the carry and convexity of zero‐bond and par–swap butterflies under instrument‐based parallel shifts: the component instruments are held fixed, and each instrument's own quote receives the same additive shock.

Materials and Music: Selective Imperfection as a Generative Framework for Analysis, Creativity and Discovery

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Materials, EarlyView.
Vibrations in matter, from spider webs to molecules, water to flames, share a grammar with music. We propose that creativity emerges when constraints force expansion beyond existing possibilities. Selective imperfection restores balance, enabling invention.
