Unlocking Financial Inclusion: The Dynamics of Bank Account Ownership in Urban Slums
ABSTRACT Financial inclusion is a key driver of sustainable development, contributing to poverty reduction (SDG 1), gender equality (SDG 5), and reduced inequalities (SDG 10). Despite extensive financial‐inclusion policies in India, residents of urban slums remain largely excluded from formal banking systems.

Multidimensional Adjectives [PDF]
Multidimensional adjectives are ubiquitous in natural language. An adjective F is multidimensional just in case whether F applies to an object or pair of objects depends on how those objects stand with respect to multiple underlying dimensions of F-ness.

Abstract Research Summary Using 14,108 Kickstarter crowdfunding campaigns, we examine three strategies to gather support from first‐time versus repeat backers: narrative distinctiveness aligning with backers' expectations of novelty, endorsement from Kickstarter staff, and campaign leadership's reciprocity of funding other campaigns.

Toward a theory of Bayesian experimentation in early‐stage ventures
Abstract Research Summary The entrepreneurship literature has established the benefits of experimentation but has paid comparatively little attention to its costs. We develop a Bayesian model to illustrate the entrepreneurial choice between direct and experimental entry.

A Novel Approach to Energy Management in Electric Steelworks
Feed‐forward neural networks are exploited to estimate electric energy consumptions of the electric arc furnace and ladle furnace processes. The models are used to optimize production schedule so that more energy intensive grades are produced when the cost of energy is lower.

Bernstein Markov Properties and Applications [PDF]
The Bernstein Markov Property for a compact set E and a positive finite mea- sure μ supported on E is a strong comparability assumption between L μ 2 and uni- form norms on E of polynomials (or other nested families of functions) as their degree tends

Abstract Precast reinforced concrete segmental linings are frequently used in modern tunneling. In these linings, the longitudinal joints typically have a reduced contact cross‐section and thus often govern the design, particularly in tunnels under high hydrostatic pressure or crossing squeezing or swelling ground with correspondingly high ...

Admissible majorants for de Branges spaces of entire functions
For a given deBranges space H(E) we investigate deBranges sub- spaces defined in terms of majorants on the real axis: if ! is a non- negative function on R, we consider the subspace R!(E) = ClosH(E) F ∈ H(E) : ∃C > 0 : |E−1F ...

Abstract The use of fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) in precast tunnel segments is among the most established and representative applications of this material. Over the past two decades, numerous tunnel linings were constructed with partial or total substitution of conventional steel reinforcement by fibers, this yielding to quantifiable benefits in ...
