Mitochondrial DNA Depletion Syndrome 1 (MTDPS1)—A Novel Cause of Premature Ovarian Insufficiency

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
We describe a woman with MNGIE due to a novel homozygous TYMP nonsense variant and propose MNGIE as the cause of her premature ovarian insufficiency—a rarely reported association—highlighting the need to consider mitochondrial disease in unexplained POI, especially in atypical, consanguineous presentations. ABSTRACT Mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome

Tryptophan Suppresses FTH1‐Driven Ferritinophagy, a Key Correlate of Prognosis in Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Intracellular tryptophan levels modulate selective autophagy of FTH1 via the NCOA4 pathway. This autophagic process then inhibits 6‐HMT synthesis, which then results in an increase in reactive oxygen species and ferroptosis. ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a lethal malignancy with limited therapeutic options.

Risk of depression with GLP‐1 receptor agonists use in overweight or obese adults with type 2 diabetes: A new‐user, active‐comparator cohort study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims The association between glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RAs) and depression remains uncertain due to contradictory evidence. We compared the risk of incident depression between GLP‐1 RAs and sodium‐glucose cotransporter‐2 inhibitors (SGLT2is) in overweight or obese adults with type 2 diabetes.

Psychiatric effects of GLP‐1 receptor agonists: A systematic review of emerging evidence

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, EarlyView.
Abstract This systematic review examines the current literature on glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1RAs)‐associated psychiatric manifestations, including depression, suicidality, eating disorders, substance use disorders (SUD) and schizophrenia spectrum disorders.
