Selective Hippocampal Subfield Atrophy Mediates Cognitive Decline in Cushing's Disease

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 15, Issue 11, November 2025.
CD patients exhibit distinct patterns of hippocampal atrophy affecting specific subfields, with changes correlating to hormone levels and cognitive symptoms. Abstract Background Cushing's disease (CD) provides insight into how prolonged high cortisol exposure affects brain structure.

Post‐Tuberculosis Adrenal Crisis in a Young Boy: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT An adrenal crisis should be considered in children with a history of tuberculosis who present with shock, hypoglycemia, and hyperpigmentation. Even years after successful treatment, TB can cause irreversible adrenal damage leading to primary adrenal insufficiency. Early recognition and prompt glucocorticoid replacement are lifesaving.

Research on the stability changes in expert consensus of the ACTH detection preprocessing scheme

open access: yesJournal of Laboratory Medicine
Adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) is extremely unstable and can easily degrade at room temperature. The experts agreed that the samples should be transported in an ice bath. If it cannot be detected immediately, the plasma should be separated and frozen,

Management of Primary Adrenal Insufficiency and Overt Hypothyroidism in an HIV‐Positive Patient in a Resource‐Limited Setting: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT In resource‐limited settings, clinicians must maintain a high index of suspicion for primary adrenal insufficiency and hypothyroidism in HIV‐positive patients presenting with non‐specific symptoms. Relying on clinical judgment and response to treatment is crucial when confirmatory tests are unavailable.

Co‐Occurrence of Endogenous and Exogenous Cushing's Syndromes: Does “Double Cushing Syndrome” Really Exist? A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 11, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Double Cushing syndrome exists: exogenous steroid use can mask concurrent adrenal hypercortisolism. When symptoms persist and cortisol remains high after tapering or stopping prescribed glucocorticoids, an endogenous source is likely. Early recognition with ACTH testing, dexamethasone suppression, and adrenal imaging reduces misdiagnosis ...

Brain‐Wide Patterns of CRF Receptor 1 Expression in the Transgenic CRFR1‐Cre‐2a‐tdTom Rat

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 533, Issue 11, November 2025.
In this article, we provide an extensive neuroanatomical characterization of a recently generated CRFR1‐Cre‐2A‐tdTomato rat. We show that Cre and tdTomato are expressed in a pattern that closely aligns with previously reported CRFR1 expression patterns.

Acupuncture's Multisystem Neuroimmunomodulation: Central–Peripheral Interactions in Gastroenteric, Psychiatric, and Chronic Pain Disorders

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 31, Issue 11, November 2025.
This work elucidates acupuncture's multisystem therapeutic mechanisms through central‐peripheral crosstalk. Using functional gastrointestinal disorders, psychiatric disorders, and chronic pain models, we demonstrate its efficacy in rebalancing gut‐brain signaling, neuroimmune‐endocrine integration, and humoral network modulation.
