Thermal compression of atomic hydrogen on helium surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We describe experiments with spin-polarized atomic hydrogen gas adsorbed on liquid $^{4}$He surface. The surface gas density is increased locally by thermal compression up to $5.5\times10^{12}$ cm$^{-2}$ at 110 mK.

Insights into the Process of Gas Release from Organic-Rich Shale: Release Characteristics and Controlling Factors

open access: yesGeofluids, 2023
Shale gas release in canister can significantly enrich our understanding in gas-in-place characteristics. However, studies on shale gas release characteristics and its controlling factors are rare.

Computer simulation of tritium release behavior of Li4SiO4 ceramic breeder with an improved packed bed model

open access: yesNuclear Analysis, 2023
In order to have a deep understanding of the tritium migration and release mechanisms in ceramic breeders, computer simulation of the tritium release behavior of Li4SiO4 ceramic breeder was performed by using an improved tritium release model.

Quantum states and specific heat of low-density He gas adsorbed within the carbon nanotube interstitial channels: Band structure effects and potential dependence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We calculate the energy-band structure of a He atom trapped within the interstitial channel between close-packed nanotubes within a bundle and its influence on the specific heat of the adsorbed gas.

Observation of micropores in hard-carbon using Xe-129 NMR porosimetry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The existence of micropores and the change of surface structure in pitch-based hard-carbon in xenon atmosphere were demonstrated using Xe-129 NMR. For high-pressure (4.0 MPa) Xe-129 NMR measurements, the hard-carbon samples in Xe gas showed three peaks ...

Adsorbed Gas Storage Digital Twin

open access: yesJOM, 2023
AbstractOne possibility for energy storage are fuels. With gaseous fuels like hydrogen or methane, significant efforts are necessary for a feasible storage in terms of compression or liquefaction. This is of particular importance in the mobility sector.

Adsorption preference reversal phenomenon from multisite-occupancy theory fortwo-dimensional lattices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The statistical thermodynamics of polyatomic species mixtures adsorbed on two-dimensional substrates was developed on a generalization in the spirit of the lattice-gas model and the classical Guggenheim-DiMarzio approximation.

The Bond-Energy Bond-Order (BEBO) Model of Chemisorption [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The bond-energy bond-order (BEBO) model of chemisorption allows an estimate to be made of the interaction energy between a gaseous specie and a solid surface as a function of either bond length or bond order, i.e., the length or order of either the gas ...

Experimental Study on the Characteristics of Adsorbed Gas and Gas Production in Shale Formations

open access: yesGeofluids, 2021
Adsorbed gas and free gas both exist in shale reservoirs simultaneously due to the unique nanoscale pore structure, resulting in the complex flow mechanism of gas in the reservoir during the development process.
