Breakthrough Time and Adsorption Capacity of Respirator Cartridges

AIHAJ, 1992
A model developed in previous studies was applied to investigate the respirator cartridge contaminant breakthrough of 121 different chemical compounds. Included in this set of 121 contaminants are representative examples of various types of organic compounds, (e.g., acetates, ketones, aromatics, alcohols, amines, alkanes, chlorinated hydrocarbons ...

The Adsorption Capacity of Platelets

Thrombosis and Haemostasis, 1963
SummaryThrombocytes stored at 37° C were suspended in fresh normal plasma free of platelets. Then the behaviour of the thrombocyte factors 1, 2 and 3 was investigated. It was found that the activity of factor 3 did practically not change during the experiments whereas the thrombocytes adsorbed the factor 1, and 2 and regained the normal activity.

Evaluating GAC adsorptive capacity

Journal AWWA, 1983
Potential sources of error in evaluating the adsorptive capacity of granular activated carbon (GAC) are identified and discussed, with special attention given to carbon sampling and preparation, preparation of test solutions, and selection of GAC dosages, adsorbate concentration, and equilibration time.

Measurement of the adsorptive capacity of a powder

Separation and Purification Technology, 2004
Abstract The purpose of this work was to recommend a method of measuring the adsorptive capacity of powdered activated carbon (PAC). The adsorptive capacity is needed in future mathematical models of dispersed phase adsorption. This measurement was difficult, because the large drag forces in powders resist any flow into the sample volume, causing big

Adsorption Capacity and Reaction

2011
Soil fertility depends on the soil’s capacity to adsorb bases such as potassium and calcium, retain them against leaching and release them to plants. Adsorption capacity depends on surface-active mineral and organic colloids. The clay mineralogy and colloidal humus of the chernozem provide a high adsorptive capacity and, also, buffer capacity – the ...

Equilibria and Capacities for Adsorption on Carbon

Journal of the Sanitary Engineering Division, 1964
Laboratory investigations show that the ultimate capacity of granular carbon for adsorption of biochemically-resistant organic substances from dilute solution after a sufficient period of contact is on the order of 15% to 25% by weight. Experimental adsorption isotherms for a number of organic substances indicate that adsorption equilibria for ...

Permeability and Adsorption Capacity of Dialysis Membranes to Lipid A

The International Journal of Artificial Organs, 1997
Hemodialysis membranes were tested in vitro for possible penetration by low molecular weight endotoxins containing lipid A. Using lipid A from Escherichia coli as a model substance for this kind of pyrogen, different dialyzers (F4, E3, Acepal 1300, Altraflux, F 40, Polyflux 110, Filtral 12, F 60) were challenged by tangential filtration in aqueous ...

Adsorptive Capacities of Hemoperfusion Devices in Clinical Use

Artificial Organs, 1978
ABSTRACTFive different hemoperfusion devices have been used in the treatment of patients intoxicated with barbiturates. The changes in drug clearance values which occurred during hemoperfusion varied according to the device used. Even after very long periods of hemoperfusion, however, drug clearance values never fell to zero.

High capacity oil adsorption by graphene capsules

Nanoscale, 2017
Compared to the space between graphene sheets, the entrance to the graphene capsule inner space is very limited, which can lead to stable oil adsorption with a larger capacity.
