Characterization and adsorption capacity of Brazilian kaolin

Journal of Radioanalytical and Nuclear Chemistry, 2021
This study has evaluated chemical, radiological composition and determined the cation exchange capacity (CEC) for three commercially available Brazilians raw kaolins. The mineralogical characterization indicated the presence of kaolinite, kaolinite and quartz and pirophylliteas the mains mineral constitution of the samples.

Dynamic adsorption of ammonia: apparatus, testing conditions, and adsorption capacities

Measurement Science and Technology, 2017
Abstract There is a growing need for adsorbents with high capacities for adsorption of toxic gas molecules. Methods and conditions to test these materials introduce large discrepancies and overestimates (~90%) in the reported literature.

Adsorption capacity of hydrogen isotopes on mordenite

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2008
Abstract In a fusion reactor system, a monitoring of hydrogen isotopes including tritium is necessary for the safety of system control and operation. A gas chromatography using a cryogenic separation column is one of the methods for hydrogen isotope analysis. Synthesis zeolite such as molecular sieve 5A (CaA) is a candidate material of the separation

The adsorptive capacity of cotton for sodium oleate

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1949
SummaryThe adsorption of soap on cotton from solutions of pure sodium oleate has been investigated. The adsorbate has been shown to be an acid soap of the composition 1 NaO1: 1 HO1. The addition of free sodium hydroxide represses hydrolysis and reduces the adsorption.

Quantification of the Adsorption Capacity of Fly Ash

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2014
Fly ash adsorption capacity is a critical property for the beneficial utilization of fly ash; although this capacity could be favorable for some applications, it may not favor the use of fly ash for other applications such as cement and concrete production. In both cases the lack of fly ash adsorption capacity quantification tools and procedures limits

Effect of firing on the adsorptive capacity of TZK

Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1967
1. The effect of firing on the magnitude of the adsorptive capacity α of TZK has been studied. Firing of TZK samples at 750-800°C for 3 h reduces α by 0.6, and firing for 6 h reduces it by 0.9. 2. Plots representing the optimum amount of vaseline oil needed for modification as a function of the adsorptive capacity a are given for TZK ...

Residual adsorption capacity of carbon beds

Carbon, 1984
Abstract The retention time of a small (0.3 cm 3 ) ethane pulse, to which various dry weights (1–3 g) of activated carbon were exposed, was studied as a nondestructive method of determining the residual adsorption capacity of the bed. Carbon beds, partially saturated with CCl 4 or water, adsorbed the ethane from and then desorbed the ethane into the

Adsorption capacity in saturated liquid mixtures

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 1998
Abstract The adsorption capacity of carbonaceous adsorbents was estimated by wetting in a saturated binary mixture, containing n-heptane and methanol. The measurements were performed volumetrically using specially constructed equipment. The results were compared with the adsorption capacity derived from nitrogen adsorption data.

Assessment of adsorption capacity on pallet coal

Pallets are widely used for moving cargo, however, they are often disposed of inappropriately, due to the cost associated with their correct disposal. This study focused on transforming expired pallets into pallet coal (PC) and investigating its properties, carrying out the determination of the Langmuir isotherm, employing primary standard solutions ...
