Study on the performance of compact adsorption chiller with vapor valves

open access: yesApplied Thermal Engineering, 2017
Adsorption refrigeration is considered a green refrigeration technology that can be driven by a low-grade heat source to generate cooling power. However, the large bulk of adsorption chillers can limit its use especially automobiles.

Physical and operating conditions effects on silica gel/water adsorption chiller performance

open access: yesApplied Energy, 2012
Adsorption refrigeration systems are commercially developed due to the need of replacing the conventional systems which utilise environmentally harmful refrigerants and consume high grade electrical power.

Thermodynamic Modelling of an Adsorption Chiller Based on a Zeolite

Volume 6B: Energy, 2015
Low power adsorption chillers with low desorption temperatures deserve particular attention, because of the possibility of driving them with a solar thermal system integrated with buildings. The monitoring of a recent solar cooling installation in Turin, Italy, has pointed out the opportunity of developing a dynamic mathematical model, in order to ...

Experimental Investigation of an Electro-Adsorption Chiller

Heat Transfer: Volume 1, 2005
A comprehensive experiment has been conducted on a novel electro-adsorption chiller (EAC) with a rated cooling capacity of 120 W (uniform heat flux of about 4.7 W/cm2). At these rated conditions, it produces a heating load surface temperature of 23°C, about 10 degree below that of the heating-load temperature.

Construction and Operating Parameters of Adsorptive Chillers

2021
The chapter is devoted to the design and performance of adsorptive chillers. Basic types of design and operating principle of adsorptive chillers were analyzed. Advantages and disadvantages performance of one-, two-, three-, and four-bed solar power adsorptive chillers are compared.

Performance modelling of an electro-adsorption chiller

Philosophical Magazine, 2006
This article presents theoretical modelling of a novel electro-adsorption chiller (EAC) amalgamating two individually low coefficient-of-performance (COP) cycles into a combined cycle, which has the potential to increase the COP by several fold. Modelling demonstrates a multi-disciplinary engineering-science application of the physical properties of ...

Optimization of adsorption dynamics in adsorptive chillers: Loose grains configuration

Energy, 2012
Abstract Dynamic performance of adsorption chillers (ACs) with adsorbent beds of loose grains is addressed in this paper. Temporal evolution of quasi-isobaric ad-/desorption curves for simple bed configuration of n -layers of loose grains ( n  = 1, 2, 4, and 8) located on a heat transfer metal support is studied.

“Water - Silica Siogel” working pair for adsorption chillers: Adsorption equilibrium and dynamics

Renewable Energy, 2017
The aim of this paper is to study the equilibrium and dynamics of water adsorption on a commercial silica gel Siogel. This adsorbent has recently been suggested and tested for adsorptive transformation and storage of low temperature heat. The original data on the water vapour equilibrium and dynamics are compared with those earlier reported for the ...
