Solar Thermal-Powered Adsorption Chiller

2019
Adsorption based cooling systems are gaining considerable attention since it can utilize low grade thermal energy, which otherwise could go as a waste. Heat sources possessing a temperature of as low as 60 °C can drive an adsorption chiller and that temperature requirement is even lower in the case of multi-stage adsorption cooling systems.

Influence of Outside Temperature on the Operation of the Adsorption Chiller

Proccedings of 10th International Conference "Environmental Engineering", 2017
Adsorption refrigeration systems are characterized by a lower coefficient of performance than the compressor type device or even absorption, but can utilize waste heat at lower temperature. The aim of the study was to determine which external parameter has the greatest impact on the efficiency of the adsorption device.

Silica gel microfibres by electrospinning for adsorption chillers

Energy, 2019
Silica gel is one of the most used porous material in commercial water adsorption chillers for the low cost and large market availability. In most applications, silica gel is used as granules with limitation in heat transfer efficiency and material hydrothermal stability.

Effect of adsorption and desorption cycle time allocation on the performance of an adsorption chiller

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2021
Most previous studies on adsorption chillers were conducted using the same adsorption and desorption times. Instead, this study analyzed various adsorption/desorption time allocations, and systematically examined the effect of cycle time allocation on system performance. The results provide physical insights for 3-bed adsorption chillers. The effect of

Exergo-ecological evaluation of adsorption chiller system

Energy, 2014
Technological processes in food industry require chilling agent. System of chillers can be driven by non-renewable or renewable sources. In the group of renewable sources solar collectors seem to be an attractive solution both as the basic or the auxiliary power source for adsorption refrigerators. The common tool for the evaluation of the refrigerator

Effect of the switching time on the performance of an adsorption chiller

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2016
The switching time is an important operating condition that must be correctly anticipated for an effective adsorption cooling system. Before the adsorption (or desorption) process begins, time is required to cool down (or heat up) the bed temperature so that the bed pressure reaches the evaporator pressure (or condenser pressure).

Physical properties and adsorption kinetics of silica-gel/water for adsorption chillers

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2018
Abstract The choice of a suitable adsorbate/adsorbent pair is critical for an adsorption cooling cycle. The surface characteristics and thermo-physical properties of the adsorbent, and the adsorption rate of adsorbate are key parameters in making the choice.

Heat to cold adsorption chillers for automotive climatisation

ATZ worldwide, 2010
With thermally driven adsorption chillers, waste heat can be recovered in order to provide cold in the vehicle. Thus, the additional energy consumption for climatisation purposes can be reduced and the overall vehicle efficiency is raised directly. Furthermore, due to their energy storage ability of adsorption chillers, this technology can be used for ...
