Kinetic Analysis of Adsorption Processes

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1987
The authors derive an explicit solution of an important special case of a kinetic model of adsorption processes proposed by \textit{J. Gani} [Math. Biosci. 1, 545-554 (1967)]. These processes describe a number of different situations, all involving the reversible adsorption of monovalent particles to sites on cell surfaces. Applications to somatic gene

Kinetic Equations for Transfer-Controlled Adsorption Kinetics

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1995
Abstract Kinetic equations are presented for the adsorption of a surfactant from a liquid bulk phase to a liquid/liquid or air/liquid interface, for a situation where diffusion equilibrium between bulk and subsurface is established, and consequently the transfer of surfactant from the subsurface to the surface is the rate-determining step in the ...

Polydisperse mixture adsorption kinetics

AIChE Journal, 1993
AbstractWe present a theoretical study of the adsorption kinetics of particles with a continuous distribution of sizes. If the particles interact with short‐ranged forces, the diminishing rate of adsorption with increasing surface coverage can be attributed to a geometrical blocking effect of the preadsorbed particles.

Adsorption kinetics of prothrombin

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1983
Abstract The adsorption kinetics at the air/water and phospholipid monolayer/water interfaces was determined by measuring the change of surface radioactivity of tritium-labeled prothrombin with time. The adsorption kinetics on the mercury electrode, at different polarizations, was determined by measuring the change in capacitance with time, assuming ...

Adsorption Kinetics of Polymeric Molecules

2001
This chapter is devoted to discussing measurements of adsorption from simple solutions, desorption by flushing, and several variations of polymer/polymer exchange. It reviews theory that is relevant to each of the sub processes mentioned. The chapter discusses some frequently applied methods applicable for oxidic surfaces and also reviews experimental ...

Overshoots of Adsorption Kinetics

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1996
Abstract A new theoretical approach to studying overshoots in adsorption kinetics has been developed in which surface conformational kinetics are introduced onto a solid interface. It is found that these kinetics cause, under certain conditions, an overshoot or oscillation in both the surface concentration and adsorbed concentrations.

Adsorption behaviour of oxyethylated anionic surfactants 2. Adsorption kinetics

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 1998
Abstract The adsorption kinetics of anionic surfactants containing one to three oxyethylene groups have been studied at the water/air interface by measuring the dynamic surface tensions using maximum bubble pressure and drop volume tensiometry.

Kinetic equations for transfer-controlled adsorption kinetics

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 1994
Abstract The dynamic surface tensions of five systems showing transfer-controlled adsorption kinetics at high concentrations have been measured. The experimental results are used to investigate the kinetic equations for the adsorption processes, with the surface behaviour being not ideal or with an indifferent electrolyte added to an ionic surfactant.

Hydrogen adsorption kinetics on Pd/Ce0.8Zr0.2O2

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2006
Hydrogen adsorption on Pd/Ce(0.8)Zr(0.2)O(2) was studied by temperature-programmed reduction, volumetric measurements and IR spectroscopy. Hydrogen uptake and reduction rate at 353 K are strongly dependent on the hydrogen pressure. At relatively high hydrogen partial pressure, reduction involves PdO, the surface and a significant fraction of the bulk ...
