Adsorption-Desorption Kinetics of Soft Particles

Physical Review Letters, 2015
Adsorption-desorption processes are ubiquitous in physics, chemistry, and biology. Models usually assume hard particles, but within the realm of soft matter physics the adsorbing particles are compressible. A minimal 1D model reveals that softness fundamentally changes the kinetics: Below the desorption time scale, a logarithmic increase of the ...

Surface adsorption–migration kinetics

Journal of Vacuum Science & Technology A: Vacuum, Surfaces, and Films, 1991
A random walk adsorption–migration kinetics model has been developed to describe the time-varying layer-by-layer adsorption buildup on a smooth surface under continuous molecular flux impingement. The basic approach of this stochastic model is to determine the transition probability for each adsorbed layer by detailed balancing of layer-by-layer ...

Kinetics of polymer adsorption and desorption

Physical Review Letters, 1991
We study adsorption-desorption kinetics of polymer chains at a solid surface. Protio polystyrene, adsorbed from cyclohexane to a single surface of oxidized silicon, was displaced by deuterio poly- styrene. A single time constant, ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\tau}}}_{\mathrm{off}}$, described displacement for a significant time (1--2 h).

Kinetics of adsorption from micellar solutions

Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, 2002
Previous studies on surfactant adsorption mostly deal with dilute systems without aggregation in the bulk phase. At the same time, micellar solutions can be more important from the point of view of applications. If one attempts to estimate the equilibrium adsorption, neglecting the influence of micelles can lead to reasonable results.
