Steric Coordination Modulated Iodine Chemistry With Four‐Electron Conversion for Zinc‐Iodine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐additive electrolyte strategy is developed to address the hydrolysis of I+ in the aqueous electrolytes. The steric‐hindrance effect of TES− effectively shields I+ from nucleophilic attacks by hydroxyl groups, facilitating the reversible I−/I0/I+ conversion with four‐electron transfer.

Electrochemical probe for total determination and speciation of selenium (IV& VI) species in water, drug formulations and foodstuffs using Thoron–I as selective chelating agent

open access: yesResults in Chemistry
The present study reports a highly sensitive, selective and cost effectiveness-sensing probe for total determination and speciation of selenium (IV & VI) species in complex matrices. The established probe was based upon controlled electrolysis of Se4+

Transient Laser‐Shocked Synthesis of Amorphous Layer‐Supported Metal Nanocrystals for Efficient Nitrate Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A general, versatile laser‐shock synthesis process is reported to produce various bimetallic CuNi, CuFe, CuCo, and medium‐entropy CuFeCoNi heterostructures, in which crystalline metal nanoparticles are anchored to amorphous hydroxide supports. During nitrate reduction reaction, the heterostructures undergo dynamic amorphous/crystalline reconstruction ...

Determination of Total Germanium in Chinese Herbal Remedies by Square-Wave Catalytic Adsorptive Cathodic Stripping Voltammetry at an Improved Bismuth Film Electrode

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemistry, 2013
A catalytic adsorptive cathodic stripping voltammetric method on an improved bismuth film electrode (BiFE) for the determination of trace germanium in the presence of pyrogallol has been investigated. A well-defined and sensitive stripping peak of Ge(IV)-

Fe-binding dissolved organic ligands in the oxic and suboxic waters of the Black Sea

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2016
In the oxygen-rich layer of the Black Sea, above the permanent halocline, the Fe and nitrate concentrations are low where fluorescence is relatively high , indicating uptake by phytoplankton.

Stretchable and Strain‐Tolerant Gold‐Coated Fibrous Biosensor for Superoxide Anion Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A breathable, stretchable gold nanomesh–TPU fiber platform is developed via controlled electroless deposition, enabling uniform through‐thickness conductivity while preserving porosity. Functionalized with superoxide dismutase, the system achieves selective, real‐time electrochemical detection of superoxide with high sensitivity, mechanical durability,

A Perspective on the Applications of Triphasic Gas Storage in Electrochemical Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gas storage in microporous materials positioned locally at an electrode or electrocatalyst surface enhances electrochemical processes. Abstract Microporous materials store gases under dry conditions (e.g., hydrogen or oxygen via physisorption), but in some cases microporous materials also show triphasic (e.g., in a solid|gas|liquid system) gas storage ...

Iron-binding ligands in the southern California Current System: mechanistic studies

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2016
The distributions of dissolved iron and organic iron-binding ligands were examined in water column profiles and deckboard incubation experiments in the southern California Current System (sCCS) along a transition from coastal to semi-oligotrophic waters.

Determination of Losartan and Triamterene in Pharmaceutical Compounds and Urine Using Cathodic Adsorptive Stripping Voltammetry

open access: yesAnalytical Sciences, 2008
A square-wave voltammetric procedure for the electroanalytical determination of losartan and triamterene in Britton-Robinson buffer (pH 3.0, 0.1 mol L(-1)) as a supporting electrolyte containing 30 ng mL(-1) of copper ions was developed. Opposite to the case of triamterene, losartan can not be reduced at a mercury electrode alone, but a new peak ...
