Quantitative Assessment of Celiac and Superior Mesenteric Artery Diameters in Adult Spinal Deformity Surgery Using Three-dimensional Computed Tomography

open access: yesSpine Surgery and Related Research
Introduction: Acute celiac artery compression syndrome occurs after corrective surgery for adult spinal deformity. It occurs due to ischemic abdominal organ necrosis, caused by compression of the celiac artery (CA) and superior mesenteric artery by the ...

Alteration of the Sitting and Standing Movement in Adult Spinal Deformity

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2022
Adults with spinal deformity (ASD) are known to have spinal malalignment affecting their quality of life and daily life activities. While walking kinematics were shown to be altered in ASD, other functional activities are yet to be evaluated such as ...

Daily Physical Training Improved Coronal Imbalance of Adult Degenerative Scoliosis: A Case Report

open access: yesMedicina, 2023
Background and Objectives: Adult (de novo) degenerative scoliosis (ADS) develops through degenerative changes in the lumbar spine, leading to spinal malalignment, which usually progresses with age.

Sarilumab in Polyarticular‐Course Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: Dose‐Finding and One‐Year Analysis of a Phase 2b, Open‐Label, Multicenter Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective This study assessed sarilumab in treating patients with polyarticular‐course juvenile idiopathic arthritis (pcJIA). Methods This phase 2b, open‐label study (NCT02776735) consisted of three sequential parts (each with a core‐treatment and extension‐phase). During part 1, three doses were assessed in two weight groups (Group A/B: ≥30–60 kg/≥10–<

Bilateral dual iliac screws in spinal deformity correction surgery

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2018
Background Surgery for adult spinal deformity requires optimal patient-specific spino-pelvic-lower extremity alignment. Distal fixation in thoracolumbar spinal deformity surgery is crucial when arthrodesis to the sacrum is indicated.

Patterning the Void: Combining L‐Systems with Archimedean Tessellations as a Perspective for Tissue Engineering Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel multi‐scale scaffold design using L‐fractals arranged in Archimedean tessellations for tissue regeneration. Despite similar porosity, tiles display vastly different tensile responses (1–100 MPa) and deformation modes. In vitro experiments with hMSCs show geometry‐dependent growth and activity. Over 55 000 tile combinations

Biobased Bionic Spider Silk via Electrostatic Complexation for Simultaneously Harvesting Atmospheric Water and Triboelectric Energy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bio‐based bionic spider silk and spider web are first prepared using polyelectrolyte complexation technique for the simultaneous harvesting of water and triboelectric energy. The advantage of this process lies on entirely bio‐based materials, fully green water‐processable procedures, extremely high production rate (99.36%), excellent fog harvesting ...

A Novel Sprayable Fibrinogen/Glycosaminoglycans/Collagen‐Based Bioink for Skin Wound Healing Applied by a Handheld Dual‐Head Airbrush

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐head airbrush‐based spraying device, combined with a fibrinogen bioink enriched with glycosaminoglycans and collagen, enables the delivery of biomaterials and cells to promote wound healing. This system demonstrates effective skin regeneration in vitro and in vivo, with comparable results to autografts.
