Technologies based on AOPs primarily exploit the high reactivity and non-selectivity of the hydroxyl radical (HO•). AOPs can oxidize/mineralize organic pollutants to CO2, H2O and/or respective mineral salts (chlorides, nitrates, phosphates), depending on the structure of the starting pollutant(s).

Guidelines for the search for advanced liquid fuels and oxidizers are developed from theoretical considerations of the reaction principle of rocket propulsion. Advanced oxidizers are based on oxygen and, increasingly, on fluorine. The potential of these elements; their blends; inter-compounds; and compounds with nitrogen, chlorine, noble gases and a ...

Recent advances in Phytosterol Oxidation Products
Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2014Phytosterols and their oxidation products have become increasingly investigated in recent years with respect to their roles in diet and nutrition. We present a comprehensive review of recent literature on Phytosterol Oxidation Products (POP) identifying critical areas for future investigation.

Recent advances in the photo-oxidation of polymers
Pure and Applied Chemistry, 1979Recent results, mainly selected from the authors work on poly- styrene, clearly indicate that a sound understanding of the photo-oxidation of polymers cannot be gained without quantum yields determination. These show that transfer of energy has a major role in the initiation of the photo-oxidation because of the high local concentration of reactive ...

An advanced oxidation process for DBP control
Journal AWWA, 1995Potentially of use to small systems for disinfection by‐products control, a relatively simple advanced oxidation process was evaluated at bench scale.Small water utilities often have difficulty operating complicated treatment processes. The advanced oxidation process investigated here is simple, involving only a pump to add hydrogen peroxide and a ...

Kinetics of simazine advanced oxidation in water
Journal of Environmental Science and Health, Part B, 2000Comparison of the effects and kinetics of UV photolysis and four advanced oxidation systems (ozone, ozone/hydrogen peroxide, ozone/UV radiation and UV radiation/hydrogen peroxide) for the removal of simazine from water has been investigated. At the conditions applied, the order of reactivity was ozone < ozone/hydrogen peroxide < UV radiation < ozone/UV
